Diverse Voices of Advocacy:  Preparing to Support Students, Colleagues and the TESOL Profession

ATESOL ACT invites you to a Professional Learning Event

Presented by Dr Polina Vinogradova
Director, TESOL Program,- American University, Washington DC

Building on advocacy work and results of a qualitative survey, Dr Vinogradova will offer some definitions of advocacy, provide insights into how power and contextual factors impact beliefs about advocacy for English language learners and will work with attendees to prepare  a realistic advocacy plan.

Wednesday 22nd August 2018, 4.30pm to 7:00pm

4.30pm:  Registration opens
5:00pm: Introduction and definitions of advocacy
5:30pm:  Diverse voices of advocacy
6:00pm Developing our advocacy plan and assessing our needs
6:45pm:  Wrap up and feedback

This program has been accredited for 2 hours of Professional Leaning with TQI using the following Australian Professional Standards for Teachers:
Standard 6:  Engage in professional Learning (6.1, 6.3, 6.4) and Standard 7:  Engage Professionally with colleagues, parents/carers and the community (7.1,7.3, 7.4 )
