A Word from Council

Brandi ComstockAt our May Membership Meeting we shared the mid-year review of our Council’s Mission and Goals. If you were at our May membership meeting, you saw that Council decided to focus on the things we had accomplished this year. We chose not to focus on what we still need to do. Our new focus gave us the opportunity to give grace to ourselves. We celebrated our Council volunteers for working hard during a less than ideal year as we learned how to PTA with virtual events. We would like each of you, as individuals, to offer yourselves grace. We would also like you to provide grace to your PTA and take time to celebrate all of the work you have done to support students and families during this challenging year.

- Brandi Comstock, LWPTSA Council President

The Journey to Becoming an Anti-Racist Family

Lewin Education and Consulting logoLWPTSA Council is hosting a two-part workshop with Lewin Education & Consulting on "The Journey to Becoming an Anti-Racist Family" on May 11 and 18. The journey is a long one and it's never too early to start talking about how to be anti-racist. As Angela Davis states: “In a racist society, it's not enough to be non-racist, we must be anti-racist.”  Please send questions to Irene Neumann and Hae Sue Park, Parent Ed Co-Chairs.

Effective PTAs Survey

LWPTSA Council received a Transformative Family Engagement and Whole Child Learning Grant from National PTA in the spring of 2019. For the past two years the grant committee has worked to help local PTAs become more effective and engaged. To help us evaluate and understand PTA effectiveness, we have created a survey. There are two ways PTAs can use the survey:
  1. Make and Share a Custom version: use this Microsoft Forms template to create a custom version to share with your school community. Then share the results with engagementgrant@lwptsa.net
    OR
  2. Share a Council version: if your PTA doesn't have the resources to create a custom survey, please share this link to participate in the survey. We will share the results with local PTAs.

PTAs with at least 25 responses by May 31 will be entered into a drawing for a $250 prize! Council has five prizes to award.

Please send questions to Grant Co-Chairs at engagementgrant@lwptsa.net
