Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Social

DEI logoOur first year is "in the books" and the story has been an inspirational one. It has been encouraging to see DEI work touch so many aspects of our programming this year. In addition, many of our local PTAs have embraced diversity, equity and inclusion in meaningful and impactful ways too.

In celebration of the year's milestones and achievements, all are invited to join Sequoya, Sabeet and Yumna for an in-person, socially distanced, outdoor gathering at Marymoor Park. Bring a chair or blanket and join us!
  • When: June 6, from 2PM to 3:30PM
  • Where: Marymoor Park, at the field next to the community garden (close to the dog park). Please don't park in the community garden parking area. Park address: 6046 W. Lake Sammamish Pkwy Redmond, WA 98052

Effective PTAs Survey

LWPTSA Council received a Transformative Family Engagement and Whole Child Learning Grant from National PTA in the spring of 2019. For the past two years the grant committee has worked to help local PTAs become more effective and engaged. To help us evaluate and understand PTA effectiveness, we have created a survey. There are two ways PTAs can use the survey:
  1. Share a Council version: if you are short on time, please share this link to participate in the survey. We will share the results with local PTAs.
    OR
  2. Make and Share a Custom version: use this Microsoft Forms template to create a custom version to share with your school community. Then share the results with engagementgrant@lwptsa.net

PTAs with at least 25 responses by May 31 will be entered into a drawing for a $250 prize! Council has five prizes to award.

Please send questions to Grant Co-Chairs at engagementgrant@lwptsa.net

WSPTA Standards of Affiliation Checklist

checklistThe end of the year is a great time to review your PTA's Standards of Affiliation (SOA) Checklist Agreement. Your board of directors should review what your PTA has accomplished and what still needs to be done, report it to your membership and record it in your meeting minutes.

As your PTA elects new officers and begins planning for 2021-2022, be sure to include the SOA as a part of the transition process! Every elected board member is responsible for helping to ensure that their PTA is in compliance with all IRS, state, insurance and PTA requirements—and it can be overwhelming. The SOA is a great tool that can be used to help orient and educate board members about what they need to do and when to do it.

How to Report PTA Officers

Has your PTA elected officers for the 2021-2022 year? If so, there’s no better time than now to input their information in memberplanet. You’ll find complete instructions here, under “How to Report Officers for Upcoming Terms.” Here are the basic steps:
  1. From your PTA’s memberplanet homepage, click COMMITTEES
  2. Click BOARD AND KEY POSITIONS
  3. Find the link shown below labeled “Assign positions for upcoming terms.” Click it and the rest is self-explanatory.
  4. Please also email officer information to LWPTSA Council at secretary@lwptsa.net.
