Budget Committee Time

There are two important items of PTA business that are important to accomplish this spring -- electing officers for 2020-21 and preparing a 2020-21 Budget for membership approval prior to June 30. A PTA cannot spend any money after June 30 without an approved budget! Check out the slides from our April 2 membership meeting for guidelines and specific line items that should be part of your proposed budget.

The Budget Committee is appointed by the Board during a Board or membership meeting, and the current Treasurer typically serves as the Chair of this committee.  It is recommended that current and incoming officers serve as part of the committee to facilitate a good transition for your PTA.  If you have any questions about the Budget process, please contact LWPTSA Council Treasurer Yumna Green.

Celebrate Earth Day At Home

April 22, 2020 will mark the 50th anniversary of Earth Day! LWPTSA Council's Sustainability Committee has compiled information and resources on a variety of sustainability topics to help celebrate Earth Day at home.

With schools closed and our daily life upended, we have had to shift, adapt and create new daily routines. This is a great opportunity to have discussions with our families about environmental stewardship and put those lessons into action in our own homes. One small change can collectively make a big difference!

Reducing Plastics & Unnecessary Stuff
  • Check out some of the incredible videos on “The Story of Stuff Project”.
  • Learn with your kids about where stuff in your home came from and where it’s headed. Then work together on repurposing, giving things away, and most importantly, reducing purchases of new items and plastics that might otherwise end up in a landfill or our environment.
Natural Yard Care & Pollinators LW PTSA Council’s Sustainability Committee would love to hear from you. Reach out if you have questions or to share the sustainable changes your family is already making. Email Sustainability Committee Chair Stephanie Lecovin at sustainability@lwptsa.net
