We are delighted that not only have Douglas & Gordon extended their contract with us for a further 3 years from 2017, they've enjoyed themselves so much they are now sponsoring the entire Spencer Club. Their support for cricket over the past 3 years has been tangible in so many ways - many of which are visible at the Club - and we are grateful that this will continue.
We are also pleased to be able to announce Qualitas as our new secondary sponsor. The local building company have been increasingly visible throughout the local area over the past few years and as with D&G, it's great that they are cricket fans too. We look forward to working with them. For further details on both, please click here
KIT FOR 2017
Following the last two years where AJ Sports have been our official equipment suppliers, from 2017 they will also become our kit suppliers. This means that from Easter onwards their shop (corner of Broomwood and Northcote Rds) will carry a full range of all training and match kit. This will also be available on Sunday mornings at the Club from the start of the season. Due to the manufacture process, we will communicate again to all members once the clothing has arrived instore. But the good news is that thanks to our sponsors and AJ, for 2017 we will be providing a FREE
playing shirt to ALL
members. Again we will be touch after Easter with delivery and collection information.
Because historically these camps have been in great demand we've added capacity this year. Full details of these and advance booking for Whitsun can be found here
. Due to the extra capacity there is still availability but don't delay if you are interested.
As usual all courses are run by fully qualified Spencer coaches under the supervision of Director of Coaching Jon Speller.
LETTER FROM JON
Speaking of whom, it's been almost a year since he joined us full time - he's done an update and new season introduction for members that can be found here
. Do give it a read when you have time
Sunday training starts 23rd April. Last official Sunday is 16th July. There is no Sunday break at Whitsun half term. Please note that all age groups make their own arrangements around these dates so check where necessary e.g. some leagues go through to 30th July.
COACH SUPPORT WORKER COURSE
We are again putting on our own Coach Support Worker course – to be held at the Club on Sunday 2nd April
. Please contact Jamie Greig
for details. This course is free to Spencer members. This is an excellent introduction to coaching, requires no cricket experience and as the name indicates, provides for those helping in sessions, rather than coaching.
Wednesday 19th April – we are hosting a season opener in conjunction with Last Man Stands, an increasingly popular midweek evening cricket game. They are bringing an invitation side captained by South African star Hershelle Gibbs to play a Spencer select team. Starts 6pm. £10 entry includes a drink and burger from the BBQ. More details to follow, save the date!
LADIES AND GIRLS SUNDAY
Sunday 2nd July will be our now annual Ladies Day. The Ladies 1st XI will play on Fieldview with their 2nd XI on Openview and lots of other activities. Looking forward to a repeat of one of the best days of last season.
T20 TRIP TO THE OVAL
Our annual T20 trip: 2 blocks totaling 861 seats have been booked for the Surrey v Kent match on Friday 14th July. This will be the total allocation so once they have been taken we will not get any further as that will allow a much easier method of issuing seats. Booking details will be sent shortly.
