A note from my highchair... 

They say that all you need to start an AA meeting is a resentment and a coffee pot. 
 
Coffee is the topic I need to speak about.  Most clubs rely on the sale of coffee to support their operations.  I have been to clubs that have coffee bars that sell coffee by the cup, restaurant style...  Others make each meeting supply their own coffee and supplies. 
  • For the past decade we have been supplying cups, sugar, and creamer for the coffee packets the groups would buy from our vending machine. 
  • At 75 cents a packet, our vending machine coffee barely covers the price of the supplies. 
  • When groups bring in their own coffee and use our supplies, we end up still stale coffee packets in the vending machine and no way to re-coup the cost of the coffee supplies.
  • The club starts to lose money on the coffee station, this is the case now. 
  • In the past month only 3 packets of coffee were bought from our vending machine.  We cannot go on like this...
 
On a positive note: One group has been adding $5 per month to their rent for the coffee supplies that they use.  If all groups were to do this, we could continue to furnish supplies without feeling the incremental financial loss that has been building around coffee and our vending machine revenue up until to now. 
 
Bottom Line: I dislike asking for money at least as much as you dislike me asking.  I know that these times are hard on everyone.  We are trying to keep our doors open and have over 17 face-to-face meetings a week when many in our district have closed.  Your help is needed!  Last month we took in $400 less than we paid out in building rent and utilities.  We have been unable to hold fund raising events this year that allow us to cover in these slow months. If you are able to make an End of Year tax-deductible donation, you may do so via our website www.elginalanoclub.com or drop a check in the meeting safe.  Every dollar helps!
 
Let’s keep the Club Safe and Open for Everyone: When you attend in-person meetings at the club, I ask you to wear a mask, follow the distancing rules and help sanitize the club after your meeting.  If we each do these simple steps, we can stay open daily until this crazy pandemic is over.  We expect that there may be a surge of people who may seek help after their quarantine drinking stops working for them and we want the hand of our club to be there for them.  Let’s all act responsibly so that we can be there and continue to carry the message!

Keep Our Club Safe!

On June 26th we increased our meeting capacity in accordance w/ IL-Stage 4 re-openings for Social Service agencies.

Please Note: Face Masks are still required for entry to the club. 
 
EAC Meeting Guidelines

EAC Service Work Day


Every First Saturday of the Month we will gather as volunteers for light service work around the Club and special projects to keep EAC in top-top shape!
  • Deep Cleaning of common areas such as coffee service, fridge, bathrooms and meeting tables, mopping of the floors, etc.
  • Maintenance to building areas for “handyman” repairs to doors, fixtures and common areas, touch-up paint, etc.
  • Clean-up of the outside entrances for seasonal debris, garbage/recycling, keep the entrances safe & secure.
  • Other special projects as needed! 
Meet-up at 10:30 am, enjoy some service work with fellow club patrons, good music and perhaps stay for the noon meeting.
