We are all ready for our grand opening next week on Tuesday, 9th, December. There are 2 opportunities to come and celebrate with us!
Pre School
Our pre school feels more like home every day and the children have settled into their new routines very well. Now that we have the facilities to display the children’s work our walls are filled with colour and the children love to see their work on display.
All our students are well and are free from respiratory illnesses.  We are so thankful our new home is free of pollution and we have space to safely run and play!
Loy Kratong
Loy kratong is a thai festival where people give thanks for the water. Traditionally people make a ‘kratong’ which they then float on the water. Our community partners at Regents School Pattaya kindly invited us to make our kratongs with them which was lots of fun. We also had time to play and had a delicious lunch before returning to Hand to Hand.
ISE Walkathon
We had a great time participating in this years ISE walkathon and making new friends. The younger children had the opportunity to go on a walk with the Pre K students and then returned to school for ice cream and lot of fun activities. The older children walked with the KG students around the golf course before returning to also eat ice cream and play with their new friends. At the end of the day we all had a delicious lunch in the cafeteria.
A big thank you to everyone at ISE who made this day so enjoyable for us.
Saturday afternoons have been so much more comfortable with the extra space. The students are enjoying reading the books and playing with the construction materials as they are now organized and can easily be found.
We continued learning about how God made the world and all the people who live in it. We learned about how special we are to God and that He knows and loves each one of us.
Pattaya Praise
Pattaya Praise is an annual worship event that creates an opportunity for all Christians  to come and worship together for several days. Our staff divided into teams so that we could participate in all of the activities including cleaning walking street, praying at Koh Larn island and joining in with the worship every evening.  It was a great time for us all to be refreshed and refuelled.
The social welfare office for Pattaya city contacted us regarding a very poor family living just outside the Pattaya area. The father is a construction worker and he is not always able to find work. The mother stays at home to take care of their 4 children, which includes a little girl who is waiting for surgery to repair a hole in her heart. The family was about to be evicted from their slum dwelling and they had no money. Hand to Hand has paid their rent for the next 6 months and is working with some other organizations in the city to help provide for them.
Baby School
All of the children continue to make great progress at our baby school. Sumo has successfully been reunited with his extended family up country and he is no longer attending our program. Our vision is to assist families so that they can stay together so this is a success case!
This month we received baby Somo into our program. She has been abused and we are taking care of her full time for 1 month until her aunty can take over. After this she will continue in our day care program.
Child Protection Training
Last month Margie conducted another Child Protection Training course at the Rayong English Program school in Ban Chang. The Thai teachers, assistants and auxillary staff came together on a Saturday for a day of discussions and learning about how we can all make our schools and communities safer for children. This is the last training for this year. Margie will begin more training course in January 2015.
Geoff Lewis
Geoff finally has a ticket home and he will be leaving Thailand on the 9th of December. A big thank you to all of the local people who have gone to see him, delivered pampers and prayed for him. He is so grateful for all the love and support that he has received.
A big thanks to Michael who is organizing assistance for him when he arrives at Heathrow airport .Geoff has seen God answer the prayers for his every need.
First Aid Training
A big thanks to Carol Hartley for doing some basic first aid training with our staff. We are now more equipped to handle both small and large emergencies!
Thong Kla is continuing to gain weight and he is more alert every time we visit the family.
A little girl was born last month also with a cleft palate. She is waiting to be scheduled for surgery.
Our prison visits to the local jails have been very quiet this month as the number of detainees has dropped significantly. We had the opportunity to provide some blankets for babies in the local Nong Palai jail and a big thank you to everyone who gave to this appeal.
During Pattaya praise we had lots of help from the Irish and Dutch teams. Thanks guys you are awesome!
The Pattaya International Ladies Club had their annual Christmas bazaar and asked Hand to Hand to run activities for the children including colouring, face painting and jewelery making. Two volunteers from Hand to hand dressed up as santa for the day which brought smile to the faces of many kids and adults!
