In the last month we have been learning how to stay healthy.  We sorted healthy and unhealthy foods using pictures and then we made a mobile to remind us of all the healthy foods we can eat. Thank you Miss Mary, Miss Butz and Miss Anja for teaching our younger children and spending quality one to one time with each student. This make a huge impact not only on their studies but their emotional development too!
We studied hygiene and the importance of washing our hands and cleaning our teeth.  The older students are beginning to read English books independently and a big thanks to Miss Suzi and Miss Emma for being amazing teachers.  Ten of these children are preparing to go to grade 1 at local Thai schools in May.  They have all passed their entrance exams and we are all proud of the high standards they have achieved.
We celebrated valentines day by making cards and presents for our mum and dad and there were lollies to put in our baskets too.
Every afternoon the staff have been working on gross motor skills with the children through a lot of fun outdoor play!
In February we received some hand made furniture by the Year 10 Materials Design students from Good Shepherd Lutheran College in northern Australia.  The students constructed 12 benches and 36 stools from recycled palettes and now it’s used  in 3 different slum communities in Pattaya.  The world is big but we belong to a small global community.

A big shout out to our Norwegian mini golf friends who generously provide the funds for our weekly shop.  This means every week we have purchased the essential needs to feed our kids and the community.  They turn a shopping chore into a fun activity.

Our hells angels buddies hosted another charity fight night to raise money for the Hand to Hand Foundation and 2 other local charity organisations.  These big tough guys really do have soft generous hearts.  Not only do they give money but they come to encourage and play with our kids as well.
We had 75 students from the International Community school in Bangkok spend 3 days with us working to improve the lives of people in Pattaya.  One group cleared out over 200 bags of garbage from the Theprasit slum, another group laid paving stones and planted gardens at Khao Palo slum and the final group worked at Hand to Hand pain ting our wall and teaching our kids how to stay healthy.  We look forward to them coming back again next year.
BBQ Prime Time Soi 9
We were invited guests at the local BBQ Prime Time on Soi 9 for their grand opening.  There was lots of fun with free bungy jumping, angry birds sling shots, jumping castle, face painting, kids activities and great food too.  This is a new out door restaurant that has opened on Theprasit Soi 9 where you can enjoy a movies, kids can play and have a great time. They are donating 5% of every bill to Hand to Hand.   So go along enjoy a great meal and support us at the same time.
St Andrews Friends
This month we have been blessed by our friends from St Andrews with a new book bag for every child.  We have a new volunteer from the school who comes to help every Saturday.
Tangkwa we thank you and we love you!
February Slum Food Appeal
We were blown away by the response to our February slum food appeal where we hoped to receive 500 of each item we were collecting.  We received much more than we ever dreamed of and a big thanks to everyone who gave to this appeal.  In March we are collecting small boxes of long life milk and milk  baby formula.  This milk will be used for children in the slums, hospital, pre school and other baby care facilities.   We currently have 5 severely disabled children who rely on us providing milk for them in order for them to survive.  Without this assistance the parents
would have no alternative but to place their child in the care of an orphanage.  If you would like to give to our March appeal you can drop off your donation at Hand to Hand or you can send us money through Pay Pal or our bank account.  All of these details are on our website

Thanks to Fabolous TV for helping us the spread the word... check out the program by clicking this following link!
Last month Police Colonel Apithi Kroppech became the new Superintendent of the Pattaya Police station.  We had an opportunity to share with him what we do at the gaol twice a week.
He thanked us and offered any support that we need to continue our ministry in the gaol.  It’s been a busy month with many people from Cambodia and Laos and we are thankful for the many teams who have come to help us.
Community of Faith Churches
The Goh Pai community church has had a few new members this month with people outside the area travelling to the services.  This month we had our first communion service which was very special.  We’ve been having lots of fun making crafts with both the adults and children and it’s great to see young and old enjoying the activities together.  The zumba classes are enjoyed by the community and a big thanks to Chanine and Sheila  for being expert teachers.  The children are catching on very quickly and they even led on of the zumba sessions themselves.
At Khao Talo we also celebrated our first communion service and we were blessed to have a special prayer and intercessory team who came and ministered to the people.  It was awesome to see adults and children receive a blessing from God.  Since this event we have seen the people in this community have gained confidence in being ministers of the Gospel themselves.
New Nordic Group
A big thanks to Khun Kwaang from the New Nordic group who bought gift vouchers of food and free T Shirts.  We are slowly turning our slum community orange as everyone proudly wears their new T shirts.
Pattaya International Ladies Club
The Pattaya International Ladies club recently celebrated their 30th birthday and we are so thankful to this generous group of ladies who have supported Hand to Hand over the years.
They have given financially volunteered their time and helped to collect much needed 2nd hand items.  Every year the PILC  support the salaries for one of our teachers and we were thankful to receive a donation of 120,000 Baht for this reason.
Women's Conference
We had 25 ladies from Hand to Hand attend the Cherish Women’s conference.  We are thankful for the sponsorship which came in to enable the ladies to attend.  For some of these ladies it was the first time they had ever stayed in a hotel and they enjoyed the buffet at every meal.  Some of these women live in situations where there is not enough food to feed their families so this abundance at meal times was very overwhelming.  All the ladies received the Word from the Lord and left the conference feeling empowered to love and serve God in their own communities.  Margie ran her creative arts workshop and it was great to see the women connect with God in new and deeper ways.
Slum Ministry
Feeding our 66 families in the slums each week has become easier with the generous donations like we received in our February food appeal.  Each week the children help to put these food packages together and they enjoy this activity.  Assisting us with this gives them an opportunity to learn measuring and counting skills as well as helping them to become positive contributors to their community.  Khun Tong is a frail elderly man  in the Goh Pai slum.  Hand to Hand is providing the resources for his end of life care and the the people living in the community
are providing the attention he needs daily.
Som Chai
Som Chai is a little deaf boy who has been attending Hand to Hand since November last year.  As he is from Myanmar he has no access to the special school for deaf here in Pattaya.
After lots of prayer and meetings with the school he has been accepted to start in May 2017.
Margie will be returning to Australia on the 29th March until the 27th of April. If you would like to catch up with her please send a message to our email address or drop a face book message in our in box!
