The most exciting thing for me politicly has been a mate Bruce Billson who has become the Minister for Small Business, not the Small Minister for Business as he has become known in political circles.  Tony Abbott calls him Pastor Bruce - the "Evangelist".

The good part about Bruce from where I sit as a small business owner is that he has always genuinely cared and sang the praises for small business.  Josh Frydenberg said "I don't think any other minister gets as much praise in the party room as Bruce".

The good thing about Bruce, is that he was raised in Seaford and came form a working class family.   He attended  high school in the Pines which is a housing commission area of Frankston, and from the age of 12 has always worked as a paper boy, in a milk bar or flipping burgers at McDonalds.
I remember him telling me a story that money was so tight for them growing up, once his mother said she was going to sell Avon products so that you boys could buy a bike. What she did is brought one bike and told them if they want another bike they would have to find thier own job.

Bruce hasn't just handed out goodies, he has angered the big banks in franchises by extending unfair contract laws to small businesses.  His next project is to strengthen the laws regulating the misuse of market power. This will fly in the face of big retailers such as Woolworths and Coles, but he is ready for the fight.

Watch this space carefully, and don't be surprised that one day he could be leading the country. (You heard it here first!)
