February 2020

From the Executive Director

The Caring Center heartAnticipating and planning the Holidays are always the most disquieted time of year for me. Will people be generous? Will they give soon enough? Will the demand of our services be greater than our resources? After 26 Holiday seasons here at the Caring Center you think I would have more faith. All I have to say is God is still working on me and I am getting stronger in my faith.

It is always amazing at the way the items come in, as if there is a master composer directing each and every donation. This Community always steps up and helps those going through wearisome times. Because of this outpouring we have always had enough to help our dear clients.

We want to thank every donor for making 2019 a record breaking year. Way to go Boone County!

Sincerely,

Theresa Hanners

Helping The Caring Center

Help, pleaseDid you know that it takes about $18,000 per month to fund The Caring Center, Transitional Housing and Classic Reruns? And during our "famine time" when donations are slow (which typically runs from February through August), The Caring Center spends about $2,000 per month on food for our pantry.  Our donors were so very generous in 2019, and donated $55,756 during the annual fund drive, but that amount only covers our expenses for a short time.  Your monetary and food donations help so many Boone County families in need.  (Learn about our monthly needs.)

We also need volunteers!  The Caring Center needs volunteers for its clothing and food daily operations at The Caring Center and at Classic Reruns locations.  (Learn about our Daily Operations Volunteers.)  And volunteers are needed for the Boone County Senior Mobile Food Pantry which is held on the third Tuesday of each month for all seniors age 55 and over. (Learn about the Senior Mobile Food Pantry volunteers.)
