PAC Meeting on the State of the School this Tuesday at 8:45!
PAC Newsletter - December 2016

The State of the School

In the spring of 2016, parents, teachers, and administrators worked together to create a new strategic plan for Peterson School.  The purpose of the CIWP (Continuous Improvement Work Plan) is to establish a school's priorities and the steps needed to move forward with these goals.  Would you like to learn more about this plan and the ways that Peterson is working to implement it? Join us at 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday morning, December 6th, in the Cafeteria to hear more about what is happening at Peterson!

As always, the PAC will provide a delicious breakfast and toys to entertain younger siblings who attend the meeting.

In addition, we will continue the winter gear swap in case parents are in need of any winter wear for kids.
Hate Has No Home Here

Have you seen the "Hate has no home here" posters and yard signs around the neighborhood (and the city)?  If you would like one, you can get a poster for no charge at the PAC meeting on Tuesday morning.  If you'd like a poster, but cannot attend the meeting, or you would like a yard sign, please sign up for one through this Google form.

If you'd like to learn more about the project or share it with those outside of our community, please visit the Hollywood-North Park Community Association page or "like" the HateHasNoHomeHere page on Facebook.

Math Night

Thank you to all the families who came out for the 4th annual Math Night last month!  Parents had the opportunity to learn from teachers and students about the ways that math is being taught at Peterson and how families can support that growth.  Special thanks to Mr. Rob Reynolds as well as all of the parent volunteers, student ambassadors, and dedicated teachers who assisted with it!

The PAC was created to help support the role of parents and the school as equal partners in children’s education. The primary purpose of the PAC is to empower parents to inspire and assist their children in achieving their educational goals.

Applying for Peterson in 2017-18

Do you live outside of the neighborhood boundaries and have a child currently attending Peterson?  If you have an incoming student whom you would also like to attend Peterson, you must apply through the sibling lottery by Friday, December 9th. Go to the website of the CPS Office of Access & Enrollment to apply and be sure that you also let Ms. Hindaileh in the Main Office know that you have applied.  You can stop by the office or e-mail her here.

In addition, if you have any friends or relatives outside of the neighborhood boundaries who are interested in Peterson, they also need to apply now to have an opportunity to join our wonderful school community next year!
Literacy Night

Mark your calendars now for our second annual Literacy Night, which will be held during the evening of Thursday, January 26th!
