PAC Meeting about Sexual Health Education
All parents and caregivers are welcome to join the Peterson PAC this Thursday, December 6th, at 8:45 a.m. in the Peterson Cafeteria to learn about the Sexual Health Curriculum at Peterson.  Join us for a special presentation with Scout Bratt from Chicago Women’s Health Center.  Scout will be sharing information and answering questions about the sexual health curriculum at Peterson for 4th-8th grades as well as discussing how to talk with children and teens about issues of consent.

A free breakfast will be served, and younger siblings are always welcome!

Applying for Peterson for 2019-2020

Do you know families who are interested in attending Peterson?  There will be multiple upcoming tours for them to learn more about the school - Monday, December 3rd and Wednesday, December 12th at 9 a.m. as well as Thursday, December 6th and Thursday, December 13th at 3 p.m.  Interested families who live outside of the school boundaries must apply through GoCPS by Friday, December 14th.

For families who currently attend Peterson and live outside of the boundaries, you must apply for any additional siblings to attend Peterson next year. All siblings will be accepted, but you must also apply through
GoCPS by December 14th. 
ASPEN will be replacing Parent Portal

A new system will be replacing the Parent Portal beginning on January 7, 2019.  Would you like to learn more?  Check out this video about the new features that will be available in Aspen. To access this new system, you must be listed as a contact for your student(s) in the current Student Information System and you must have your email address included. In January, you will then receive an email with directions for accessing Aspen.
Literacy Night at Peterson

Literacy Night will be coming to Peterson on Thursday, January 31st at 5 p.m.!  Please save the date for this fun and educational night.  If you are interested in assisting with Literacy Night, please contact the PAC to share your ideas and join the planning committee! 

The PAC was created to help support the role of parents and the school as equal partners in children’s education. The primary purpose of the PAC is to empower parents to inspire and assist their children in achieving their educational goals.

Winter Gear Donations

Thanks to all who donated winter gear for other Peterson families! Families were able to get warm clothes for their children, staff were able to get additional supplies, and the additional clothes were donated to two local non-profit organizations.  We appreciate your generosity!
The Dance-a-Thon is Here

The Peterson Dance-a-Thon begins this Monday at Peterson. Check out this website for information about Spirit Week and the themes for each day, learn how to volunteer at the event, watch the Dance-a-Thon video, and find out more about this PTA/Friends of Peterson fundraiser!
The Dance-a-Thon helps fund the art program at Peterson including Ms. Edstrom's work with 2nd graders who created these masterpieces.
