PAC Meeting on Aspen, the new Parent Portal

Please join us for a PAC Meeting tomorrow - Thursday, May 2nd beginning at 8:45 a.m. in the Computer Lab (Room 109) for an interactive opportunity to use the new parent portal system, Aspen.

Mr. Deters will be present to assist parents in accessing the portal and/or adding their children to their accounts.  For those who have already successfully accessed the portal, we will look at its functions including seeing grades, assignments, and attendance.

For those unable to attend the session, more information is available on the
CPS website.  If you are still unable to access the Portal, you may email Mr. Deters for assistance.

A free breakfast will be served at the meeting, and younger siblings are always welcome.
Field Construction

Construction on the field is expected to begin in the next week, and is anticipated to be completed before the 2019-20 school year.

The entire field will be fenced off and inaccessible during construction. Students will have outdoor recess in the blacktop area while construction is completed. Second grade will dismiss towards Christiana Avenue at pick-up, and students will not have the option to play on the field before school.

By next year we should have a wonderful new field to enjoy!
Don't Forget Me Screening

Please join the Peterson PAC for a special opportunity to watch a screening of Peterson parent Jackie Spinner's new documentary film, Don't Forget Me, on Thursday, May 30th at 6 p.m. at the Albany Park Library.

The film follows three Moroccan families whose children are on the autism spectrum and was inspired by Jackie's Moroccan-born sons, who are Peterson students.

Children are welcome to attend the screening and discussion.
Educator Appreciation Week

May 6th-10th is Educator Appreciation Week at Peterson. Please join the PTA in celebrating the hard work and dedication of all the educators here!
New Student Enrollment

Do you have a child who will be new to Peterson next school year? All new students in kindergarten through 8th grade need to register in the Main Office.  The next enrollment period will be May 13th-17th from 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. There will be extended hours on May 14th and 16th from 4-6:30 p.m. Please visit the Peterson website to see a list of the items you need to bring to enroll.

For those interested in a tour of Peterson, they will be available on Thursday, May 2nd and Monday, May 6th at 9 a.m.

The PAC was created to help support the role of parents and the school as equal partners in children’s education. The primary purpose of the PAC is to empower parents to inspire and assist their children in achieving their educational goals.

Kindergarten Orientation

Parents and incoming kindergarteners are invited to Peterson School for an important orientation on Thursday, May 23rd at 5:00 p.m. (pizza will be served at 4:45).

Come and learn what kindergarteners need to know before school starts, how to help create a smooth transition for your child, and what he or she will be doing throughout the day at school.

You will also have an opportunity to meet the kindergarten teaching team, other parents, and administrators. Don’t miss this excellent opportunity to begin to form a lasting partnership with your child’s teacher!

We also need volunteers to help this event run smoothly.  Please
email the PAC if you would be willing to help serve food, talk with new families, or help with sign in!
