New Bike Path/Bike Safety
Further to our previous public service announcement on Bike Safety, we are pleased to advise that we have commissioned a, now completed, new leg of the bike path, providing an alternate bike route into the club from the top of the hill by the Wroe's greenhouse.
The alternate path provides for a far more gradual descent, and avoids sudden eruption into the mouth of the driveway. Bear in mind it is still a pathway, and not a roadway, so caution is in order navigating the terrain, but the Commodore tried it out on Saturday morning, and found it to be a far less intimidating final leg of the ride.
So, when you pass the Wroe's driveway, look for a path to the right, just before you get to the downhill. Take the right, and you will emerge at the north end of the Boathouse.
Finally, it bears repeating that bike helmets are required by law for anyone under 18... maybe they're not cool, but they could save your child from a concussion, or more serious head injury... also, as the days get shorter, lights for kids biking home after movie nights, or dances, are required.
