Hello, Friends!

Thank you for your participation and interest in working for JUSTICE FOR MILES HALL.

We are continually blown away by the momentum and stability we are creating as an organization. We are in our infancy, but there's something solid and powerful about our presence in Walnut Creek and in Contra Costa County. This stability is because of you. Regardless of how often you are able to participate, when you do, it makes a difference. THANK YOU!

Together, we WILL save lives, protect families, and make our communities stronger in Miles' name!

If you'd like to hear more, offer your time and skills, please reach out via our email: justiceformileshall@gmail.com (and come to the Community & Collaboration meeting on March 12th. See below).

Hello Everyone,

It’s been nine months now that our son and brother was stolen from us when he was having a mental health crisis. It’s still unreal that he was shot and killed by the police when he just needed help. Miles was so kind and loving and had plans for his future. He always wanted a wife and kids and now he can never have that life he dreamed of. We will continue to fight to protect his legacy and tell his story. Our goal is to make sure there is a non-police response to help those in a mental health crisis. Miles needed compassion not guns.

Our family is humbled by the community support and know that we can’t do this alone. Thank you to the FOSATH leaders for leading our activism efforts and making incredible strides since Miles' death. Please continue to stand with us and help us spread the word about the injustice that happened on June 2nd.

We can’t be silent.

Love,

Scott, Taun and Alexis Hall

UPCOMING EVENTS: this is where you come in.

Catch Taun this Friday on KQED!

Taun was recently invited to be interviewed on KQED Forum as part of their occasional “First Person” series, which highlights Bay Area change-makers.  Please tune in from 9:30-10 am this Friday, March 6th to hear Taun's interview with Mina Kim, host of the Forum each Friday.

The Community and Collaboration Meeting

THURSDAY, MARCH 12
6:30 PM - 9 PM
1035 Carol Lane, Lafayette, CA

If you are trying to figure out where you fit in, or you are affiliated with other organizations that are aligned, please come. Our first community meeting was powerful and gave us a lot of direction. We hope to accomplish more of the same on March 12th.

The purpose of the meeting is to combine MDP&JC’s depth of experience with FOSATH’s fire and multiple workstreams. We also want to find opportunities to collaborate with and support the goals of other like-minded organizations.

How might we join forces to create change and protect families? How can we broaden and deepen our reach?

During the evening, we’ll learn about each other’s work, get into break-out groups that correlate with FOSATH’s current and newly forming subcommittees, and roll up our sleeves to brainstorm, map out our next steps and get work assignments.

Each of our voices and set of hands is needed.

Food and beverages will be served, so come hungry.

The City Council Meetings happen on the first and third Tuesdays of the month. Please come!

Remember, it doesn't matter if you speak during public comments or not. Your presence is so supportive and important. We've had consistently strong turn-outs and this sends a strong signal to the City that we are not backing down, nor getting tired.

If you'd like to speak, but need support, check out this new service, thanks to Taun's sister, Kat:
Kat Alessi, Taun's sister, doesn't live locally and would be happy to support FOSATH by offering her speech writing skillst for anyone who wants to speak, but doesn't know what to say or have time to generate a 3 minute speech.

If you'd like Kat's help, please notify her via email

Thank you, Kat!
