Matt Wilhelm Brings His Energy and Anti-Bullying Message

Thank you to the District 181 Foundation in conjunction with the HMS and CHMS PTO’s for bringing Matt Wilhelm to speak at both middle schools.  On Tuesday, October 29, the X-Game gold-medalist and BMX bike trickster Matt Wilhelm brought his anti-bullying and resilience message to CHMS.  Students were encouraged to embrace their uniqueness and that of others. “Everyone has their own gifts and talents,” he said. He also talked about the myth of “overnight success” and said that hard work, grit and determination are keys to success.  Students left the assembly energized and empowered knowing they could use the power of words to uplift, encourage, and support one another.

Parent Teacher Conferences

You are now able to schedule your student(s)’ Parent-Teacher mini-conference(s) through Skyward Family Access. Mini-conferences are times for you to check in with your child’s individual teachers for about five minutes apiece. These mini-conferences will be held on Monday, November 25 and Tuesday, November 26. Sign-up for mini-conferences will close Friday, November 15.

Please Note:

  1. Unlike in our elementary schools, these mini-conferences are elective; they are not mandatory.

  2. This year we are offering more mini-conference options. You will sign up on Skyward for a session when all teachers will be available to meet in the Gym/Cafeteria.  You can use that time to see your child(ren)’s teachers.

  3. Team conferences will only be scheduled by grade level teams when they feel it is necessary.

  4. If a team conference is requested for your child, you do not need to sign up for mini-conferences.

Directions:

  • Login to your Skyward Family Access: skywardfamily.d181.org

  • Click on the Conferences tab

  • Select All Conferences to view what is available for your student

  • Click on “Select a Time”

  • The list of time slots that are open will appear. Click the Select button to reserve a spot. A confirmation will appear with the conference details. To confirm click Save or else click Back to select a different one. A confirmation email will be sent.

  • To view conferences you have manually scheduled or an instructor has scheduled click on View Scheduled Times.

Thank you!

Yearbook and/or Graduation Robes Order by 11/22

The deadline to order a 2019-20 yearbook and/or a 2020 8th grade graduation robe is fast approaching.  The deadline to purchase these items online is Friday, November 22, 2019.

Please double-check your skyward account: skyward.d181.org, under the fee management tab to see if you have already purchased these items.  If you have not yet purchased a yearbook ($20.00) (all grades) or a graduation robe ($19.25) (8th grade only), you can log back into skyward: skyward.d181.org.   Once you logged in, go to the fee management tab.  To the right of the student’s name, click “add a fee”.  You will then see a list of fees to choose from.  After you have added all the items you want, click on “Purchase”.  This will take you to Schoolpay where you can pay and complete the transaction.
