News from the CHMS PTO

Welcome to the 2020-21 CHMS school year

I am excited to start our school year with all our CHMS students, both through our in-person hybrid or remote learning models! A quick reminder to please be sure to complete your selection (sent via email) and review the details of both options by clicking here. As always, our goal is to provide a safe environment for all students which will allow the most impactful learning opportunities on a daily basis.

Since mid-March this 2020 year has presented all of us with some challenges to varying degrees. In this environment, our strength and success found at CHMS has been found through the strong relationships, collective trust and communication among ourselves, students and families. This recipe for success will continue into our new school year, no matter what learning model our students are involved in. I ask that we continue focusing on these core and essential aspects of humanity which will allow us to remain a top school district and community.

I hope you enjoy the last few (extended) weeks of summer and look forward to having everyone with us starting on September 8.

As always thank you for the constant support,

Dr. Levi Brown

CHMS Principal

Welcome Back

On behalf of the CHMS PTO Executive Board, we would like to welcome all our existing and our new families to CHMS. We hope our message finds you and your families healthy and safe.  We understand that this school year will look different so we are working with the CHMS Administration to ensure that our PTO can offer the same high standards to students, parents and staff as in years past.

While some of our planned PTO activities will not take place, most of our other activities can be adapted to comply with State and D181 guidelines.  We will also be looking at adding other types of activities that will work better in this ever changing environment.

A big thank you to our School Supply Committee Co-Chairs, Amy Phillips and Anne Prasse and to our Back To School Co-Chairs Lauren Inabnit and Lana Ferren as well as all our volunteers for planning and making sure our students supplies and information gets into their hands this coming week.

To say that we are disappointed that we cannot welcome you to CHMS in person would be an understatement. We realize that development in school is as much about relationships as it is academic content and it is much harder to form PTO relationships when we are physically apart.  However, we both have great confidence in our administration, our teachers and our fellow families that we will adapt, move forward and make the best of a challenging situation.

Jenny Driscoll and Michele Schubkegel

PTO Co-Presidents

7th & 8th Grade Supply Kit Pick-Up 8/19 and 8/20

7th & 8th grade families who ordered School Supply Kits can receive them this week via a limited contact curbside pick-up.

Families should drive into the CHMS front circle drive/car lane at their assigned time based on last name, or use the late pickup option, to pick up their school supply kits.  Please display the child’s first and last name and grade in the passenger side window.  As you arrive, kindly open your trunk or side door for our volunteers to place the kits. For families with students in both grades, you are more than welcome to pick up both supply kits at once. If you are out of town this week or just need to make alternate arrangements, contact Mrs. Beltran (cbeltran@d181.org) in the office. Don’t worry if you can’t make it at all. In that case your child(ren)’s school supplies will be placed in their Advisory class on the first day of school.
