ISAT Testing Reminder
ISAT tests will be given from 7:55 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. Monday, March 10th through Thursday, March 13th.  It is important that students get to school on time each day.
Students must bring their calculator to school with them on testing days.  Cell phones are not allowed during ISAT testing, so students will not be able to use the calculators on their cell phones.  Also, no electronic reading devices are allowed, so please encourage your child to bring a book to school in case they finish a test early.
Finally, it is important that each and every student get plenty of sleep during testing week and that they eat a good breakfast each morning.  We want the testing experience to be a positive one for each student, so please help your child come to school prepared and encourage them to do their very best.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Sherman at
CHMS Students of the Month for the Month of February
I really enjoyed sitting down and talking with Owen Allen, Lauren Cecchini , Erin Ng, Joe Northey, our 8th grade students of the month this month.  I asked them to rate their overall experience at CHMS and provide me with some items they would change if they were principal.  Each student rated CHMS very highly because of how interesting, challenging and caring the teaching staff is here.  Overall, the items they would change were minor and in some cases out of my control (like starting later in the morning).  Congratulations to these fine Eagles!
Once on This Island
Don’t miss this year’s musical, “Once on This Island”.  Performances will take place on Wednesday, March 19th through Saturday, March 22nd at 7:00 p.m.   Tickets cost  is $8.00 and will be available for sale at all lunches.  You can also purchase tickets at the door if they are still available on the day of the show.  We hope you’ll come out and see our talented students in action!
Common Core Science Parent presentation (Wednesday, March 19, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Elm School).
This session will include an overview of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and their impact on teaching and learning in District 181.  As a former middle school science teacher, I will be highly involved in this curriculum update and know that your input will be needed.  Teaching you about the NGSS is the first step and I hope you will join us for an engaging and informative evening.
Representatives from FermiLab in Batavia will present information about how inquiry-based science practices are reflected in the standards and careers of the present and of the future.  All community members are invited to attend; pre-registration is not required.
