It’s SELAS Week at CHMS! That’s Social Emotional Learning for Academic Success. To celebrate the week, students will write letters to causes they believe in, create eagles sharing what they’re proud of. On Friday, students are encouraged to wear blue and gold to celebrate CHMS spirit day!
Band Concert Thursday
Enjoy the beautiful music performed by the 5th and 6th grade bands this Thursday, January 29th. The winter concert will be held at 7pm in the CHMS gym.
Sixth Grade Dance Friday
Don’t miss the 6th grade dance/open gym this Friday, 7-9pm. The event costs $5.00 at the door and is sponsored by the Peer Leadership Club. Students must have a ride home at 9pm.
Sixth Grade Girls Lunch Club
The new lunch club will be held on Thursdays during third quarter, January 29th – March 26th. It will be a place for 6th grade girls to get together to strengthen peer relationships, talk about social situations or challenges they may be experiencing as adolescent females and to have fun! If you are interested in having your child join the club, please print and fill out the permission slip below and return to school.
SERVICE OPPORTUNITY – Feeding Children Worldwide
Save the date of Monday, March 2nd from 6:30-8pm to participate with our CHMS community to pack meals for Feeding Children Worldwide, a not-for-profit organization that helps feed the hungry within the U.S. and around the world. During this special community service opportunity to be held at CHMS, staff, students, and family members of all ages can help package meals to support hungry children. More details will follow soon, but be sure to mark your family calendars for our Feeding Children Worldwide community service event on Monday, March 2nd from 6:30-8pm!

Substance Abuse Prevention Event
Blunt, Bud, Skittles, Spice, Tweak and Skag. Got that? If you do, this drug lingo either has you dreading, hoping and barely coping or just wondering, guessing, and all out worrying. The Robert Crown Center for Health Education is hosting a substance abuse prevention open house in observance of National Drug Facts Week this Saturday, January 31st, 10am-2pm. The program will include art installations, video screenings, and a variety of informative presentations. Robert Crown is located at 21 Salt Creek Lane in Hinsdale.
