I Am Thankful For…
This Thanksgiving, please remember how fortunate we all are. I, for one, am thankful for so much in my life. Having a home, food on the table and our health during these times is a gift that I cherish. At times, we all can lose our focus on what really matters in our lives. Sometimes we need to take a step back and remember how fortunate we all truly are. As we head towards the winter holidays, I hope everyone can strive for the work/family/life balance that promotes true thankfulness, generous giving and authentic appreciation for the goodness in our lives.
Videos of PTO Meetings and
Other Parent Events
I wanted to take a moment to highlight a location on the CHMS PTO website that you may not be familiar with this year. It is on upper right portion of the main page at chmspto.org just below the grade level news and it is called Seen, Heard, Read-PTO Communications. When you hover click on this heading, you will have three options present themselves to you there. The bottom option takes you to each of the videos of PTO meetings and other parent events that we have had this year that we were able to videotape. I know the meeting times are not always conducive to everyone’s schedule and I wanted let you know that watching these videos can be a viable alternative.
Just A Heads Up...
For the 4th year in a row, CHMS will partner with HCS Family Services in its holiday giving, Adopt-A-Family program. HCS Family Services is a not-for-profit organization which has been serving residents of Southeast DuPage County since 1937. Its goal is to prevent homelessness and food insecurity, helping low-income individuals achieve their dreams of sustained economic self-sufficiency and creating an improved quality of life for themselves and their families. HCS Family Services empowers people to reach their goals through one-on-one guidance, education and advocacy. Their services include such things as personalized guidance and support, education and career development as well as access to a food pantry. This season, CHMS will once again "adopt," approximately 20 families in need.
Gift requests can be picked up by students (or parents), before school or during lunch on Monday, December 1st and Tuesday, December 2nd. The gifts are due back at school, UNWRAPPED, with the gift request card and a gift receipt (if possible), on Tuesday, December 9th. Community service committee members will organize gifts at school, and they will be picked up by the HCS client families at CHMS on Monday evening, December 15th. We ask that the donated gifts be new, and around $30. Last year we had two brand new bikes donated as well, but this is not expected by HCS or their families.
