Just a Heads Up...

Pizza Wars/Eagle Jam Rocks!!!
Thank you to all of the CHMS families and staff that helped make our 1st Annual Pizza Wars a HUGE success!  It was a sellout with nearly 600 people in attendance.    Home Run Inn was the winner and York Tavern and Aurelio’s of LaGrange came in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.  We are still finalizing the numbers and will share the money raised toward the technology fund with you next week.
The 10 Pizzerias that participated DONATED all of the pizza, so please remember to support these restaurants that supported our school.  Aurelio’s (LaGrange), Baldinelli’s (Hinsdale), Domino’s (CH), Fox’s (Hinsdale), Home Run Inn (Westmont), L&F (Westmont), Mario’s (CH),  Pompeii (Westmont), York Tavern (Oakbrook) and Zazzo’s (Darien).  All pizzerias will receive an ad in the 2014/2015 school directory, as well as be noted on the PTO website, so frequent their businesses and thank them!
Thank you to our sponsors, CHT Orthodontics (Hinsdale) & Nordic Energy (Oakbrook) for their financial donations, Jewel Foods for the water bottles and Clarendon Hills Academy of Music/Derek Berg for running the sound system all night.  Thank you to the CHMS staff for all of their help, particularly Ms. Fitzgerald for helping us coordinate art for the publicity and Mr. Lehman who not only helped organize the Eagle Jam, but also won the staff pizza eating contest!  Final thanks to our fabulous student performers, MC’s and stage crew volunteers for providing us with fantastic entertainment.  We can’t wait for the 2015 event!!!

Final PTO Meeting May 14th/April Anxiety Presentation Video Link
Mark your calendars for the final PTO meeting on Wednesday, May 14th at 9:00 am in the MRC.  The topic is “The Top 10 Things You Wish You Had Known Before Your Child Started High School”.  We will be joined by a group of experienced HCHS moms and they will help middle school parents understand more about what to expect during the high school years.  We will also ratify the proposed Executive Board Slate for the 2014/2015 school year and enjoy treats provided by the CHMS staff.  Don’t feel like you need to have an 8th grade student to come.  It’s never too early to find out what’s down the road and catch up with what’s happening around CHMS.
April PTO Meeting Anxiety Presentation Video Link:  For those that missed the fantastic presentation at April’s PTO meeting, the video link has now been put on the PTO website.  Go to and click on the tab that includes “Speaker Handouts & Videos.”  You can watch Dr. Lisa Kaplin talk on the topic: Identifying & Addressing Anxiety in Our Children.  Thanks for your patience as we worked to set this up.  We hope to provide future speaker presentations on this link in our effort to help parents that cannot attend the meetings.
