The PACT Act and Your VA benefits

The PACT Act is a new law that expands VA health care and benefits for Veterans exposed to burn pits and other toxic substances. This law helps us provide generations of Veterans—and their survivors—with the care and benefits they’ve earned and deserve.

This law also adds certain locations outside of Vietnam as presumptive for exposure to Agent Orange.

2022 Run for Briggs 5k Run/Walk, Ruck, and 1 Mile Fun Run
We are happy to announce the 2022 Run for Briggs 5k Run/Walk, Ruck, and 1 Mile Fun Run will be in person in Calverton, NY on August 13th. They are the 5th Race of the Suffolk County Veteran Run Series and we hope to make this an unforgettable run in honor of TSgt Dashan Briggs, who made the Ultimate Sacrifice while serving in the 106th NYS Air National Guard unit as a Special Missions Aviator. On March 15, 2018 Dashan was one of seven men killed when their HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopter they were riding in crashed in Western Iraq.

Veterans Peer-to-Peer Program

The purpose of the Veterans Peer-to-Peer Program is to help our veterans resolve their problems by giving them a place to go for that help. To understand how our program works is simply demonstrated and explained in the following illustration. The veteran takes a glass of water (which represents stress) in his/her hand, and while standing up, holds it out straight in front. The longer it’s held, the heavier the stress gets. A veteran peer comes along beside the veteran holding the glass, and seeing the stress, the veteran peer makes the veteran comfortable by helping him/her to sit down in a chair. This also lowers the height of the outstretched arm holding the glass, making it easier for the peer to hold the arm with the glass and reduce the stress. However, there is still stress. Then along comes a clergy who takes the glass of water (stress) away. Thus, the stress is relieved.
