Sunday 1st February 10am – 2pm

Camphill Market Team: "We declare 2015 'The Year of Actualisation'."

It's an exciting time for our market! Inspired by the success of our 50th Birthday Music Festival, with the help of friends and patrons of Camphill, new things are in the air. We will be opening our 2015 market season with a few wonderful surprises. But you are going to have to come on the day to see what they are! Come and enjoy the magical experience of our country market on Sunday the 1st of February 2015.

There will be our usual attractions of great food, family entertainment and wide variety of stalls in the fresh clean air and expansive grounds of Camphill Village West Coast. Kids’ games, face painting, playground and tractor rides will thrill the younger kids and provide a safe environment for them to enjoy the day.

Our wide selection of freshly prepared foods and coffee shop treats are a delight for the palate and there are plenty of treasures to be found among our range of stalls. If fresh is what you are after this is the place to be. From our own amazing selection of herbs; fresh produce grown right here at Camphill to our dairy and bakery products, there is something for everyone. Camphill Village Country Market - Come experience it!

Looking forward to seeing you here on Sunday.

Jojoba

by Craig du Preez

Camphill Village Jojoba OilHarvest Time!

Yes it’s harvesting time in our Jojoba fields here at Camphill and we could not be happier. Why? Well, Jojoba oil is highly valued and sought after liquid wax! Revered in the beauty industry for having the same properties as thenatural sebum produced by your skin, the oil not only penetrates naturally (without aggravating sensitive skin), but it actually tricks the skin into producing less sebum, resulting in less oily, less shiny skin.

Jojoba is equally good for face and body (it has a natural SPF4 sun protectionfactor), makes an excellent moisturizer and make-up remover, and you can even use it as a conditioner on your hair. As a massage oil, it combines with the skin's sebum to form an emulsifier that unclogs pores by gently lifting outgrime and embedded impurities. It also contains myristic acid which makes it an easily absorbed anti-inflammatory for sprains and bumps.

Our cold pressed jojoba oil is organically grown, handpicked; prepared; bottled and labeled right here at Camphill, Which makes it a true Camphill product that we are proud to offer to our clients. Come and visit our cosmetics department at the next market and test this amazing product.

Core Group Meeting

by James Sleigh

At the beginning of January this year, I attended a core group meeting in Switzerland, with one representative from each region of the Camphill Movement. There are six regions representing over 100 Camphills worldwide.

The first day was spent looking at “Future Aspects of Camphill”, in which we all shared from our regions and discussed challenges that we foresaw for the future. The discussion broadened into the question “What is the task of Camphill in the future?”

Themes that came out of this were:

  • Evolution and the need to transform and change.
  • The courage it requires to transform.
  • What is the cohesive element?
  • And, how can we find a new pioneering courage to take Camphill forward?

We realise that if we don’t transform, and do it consciously, we will bear the consequences. We understand that one cannot solve the problems with the same form of thinking that created them. We discussed that, instead of trying to analyse systems, we feel we should focus on what is alive and working in the communities around the world and try to understand what it is that creates this energy. This could guide us in facing the challenges that accompany transformation.

Through these discussions, the theme emerged for the Movement conference planned for June this year, in which delegates from around the world will take this discussion further.

Thank You Dave, Byron and Luthando from Old Mutual

by Janine Strumpher

It is with heartfelt appreciation we would like to thank the three lovely gentlemen from Old Mutual for the 10 digital notebooks they donated to Camphill Village. This will assist greatly in communication within our Village, which often proves to be a difficult task taking into account the physical distances between houses, enterprises and administration.
