In the April 19, 2016 newsletter there's lots to share: an exciting staff change, a great opportunity for Eugene-area asset builders, the RE:Conference Early Bird discount, a save the date for a CSA update, a reminder that IDA tax credit sales start May 2, and an invitation to be part of Housing Alliance planning for 2017.

Exciting changes to the NP Staff

The NP staff is growing and changing. We are thrilled that Alison McIntosh will be returning to NP in a newly created role. Alison was a member of the NP team from 2006-2014. She will step in as Deputy Director, Policy and Communications beginning May 2nd. She will take the lead on housing issues and strategic communications, working closely with Jenny Lee and Matt Kinshella.

Housing opportunity is top of mind for Oregonians who can’t find an affordable place to rent, communities facing unstable change, our elected officials and public agency partners. We’re excited to be able to increase staff resources devoted to bringing partners together in search of solutions to our housing needs.

This expansion of our team will allow Janet Byrd to focus her attention more on asset building policy and our work to create prosperity for all Oregonians, beginning with a platform for Children’s Savings Accounts. She will work closely with Jill Winsor in those efforts

Housing conversations are moving forward

The 2017 Legislative session will be here before we know it! As we shared previously, the Housing Alliance is in the process of convening deeper conversations around a variety of key housing opportunity issues. We currently have a workgroup on tenant protections scheduled for April 26 and one on development and land use set for May 4. The next general Housing Alliance membership meeting will be on Friday, May 13 from 10:00 to 3:30 in Salem.

We hope you can join us to lay the groundwork for a bold and impactful agenda in 2017! We encourage all interested Housing Alliance members to attend and participate. Interested organizations who might want to consider joining our efforts in 2017 are welcome to attend as observers. Please get in touch with Jenny Lee (jlee@neighborhoodpartnerships.org) for more information ahead of time.

As we mentioned last month, Oregon IDA tax credit sales begin on May 2. You will be able to make contributions via check to qualify for a 70% state tax credit rate and online for a 67% rate. Stock and mutual fund contributions will begin via an auction process from May 9 - May 20.

There have been several changes this year, so make sure you read this before contributing.

We look forward to 2016 being the biggest year for Oregon IDA tax credits.
