Dear Amplifier community,

It’s a sunny Tuesday morning in Brooklyn, NY, and just as I sat down to write this message, I got a text from my friend, and Amplifier’s partner, Marsha Morgan, Chair of the Community Investment Network. She shared a photo she had just come across of the two of us, arms around each other, at a conference last year. It’s so fitting to hear from Marsha today, as we share updates about Amplifier’s partnership work.

For many of us, times where we could go to conferences, embrace our friends, and be together in community are beginning to feel distant. I’ve been in social isolation for six weeks now, and am craving the physical presence of extended family, friends, and colleagues—people like you.

At Amplifier, we are in the business of building and catalyzing community, and while we’ve loved each and every virtual interaction we’ve had with each other, we can’t wait to see you in person. Until then, we’re excited to announce some offerings from our close partners for #GivingTuesdayNow, a global day of giving and unity that will take place tomorrow, May 5, 2020, as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.

Amplifier is a proud member of the original core co-design team and advisory board member of Philanthropy Together, and we are thrilled to be working with them to create new giving circles on #GivingTuesdayNow through the #GivingTuesdayNow Pop-Up Family & Friends Giving Circle toolkit, and through Launchpad, the new virtual giving circle incubator. To celebrate Philanthropy Together’s launch, we featured new Executive Director and long time friend of Amplifier Sara Lomelin as our latest Human of Amplifier

On #GivingTuesdayNow, and every day, we encourage you to give. If you can’t give what you gave before, now’s the perfect time to start a new giving circle. Together we can do what we can’t do alone. For inspiration and education, continue to check out our COVID-19 resources. I can’t wait to see you all in person as soon as possible, and until then, l'm looking forward to hearing your stories and seeing you online!
