Junior Member Supervision

In accordance with the guidelines from Tennis Ireland and Ulster Tennis, to access the courts in this phase of the reopening a player must:
  • Be a current member and
  • A parent/guardian must accompany any player under 18 years
Where 2 Under 18s are playing against each other, if the parents agree, then both juniors can be supervised by one parent.  However this needs to be confirmed in advance with a simple e-mail to the club (frontofhouse@belfastboatclub.com) with the name(s) of the parents and/or coach authorised to act as a guardian.  This also applies to junior members being coached.

The parent who is supervising should also familiarise themselves with the Guidelines for Players which can be downloaded here

Many thanks to everyone for their understanding and co-operation as we aim to ensure that tennis can continue safely during Phase 1.

Tennis Courts & Booking

Now that the processes and measures put in place to ensure safety and social distancing have been tested and are working well, we are pleased to be able to open the rest of the tennis courts from 10.30am on Tuesday morning.  These additional courts will be available to book from 2pm today.

Once all the courts are in operation please remember to be particularly aware of a few things:
  • When tennis balls come onto your court from another court these should be sent back with your racquet or foot.
  • Please be aware other players if running past the tramlines towards an adjacent court which is also in use. If maintaining your distance from other players requires you to stop running for a ball early then you could agree to play a let.
We would ask all players to have a look at and familiarise themselves with the Ulster Tennis Guidelines for Players which can be downloaded here

If you need to cancel a court and it's more than 10 hours before the start time this can be done online by clicking on the "Upcoming Bookings" on your booking system and then select "Actions" next to the booking in questions and then "Cancel".
If you need to cancel at short notice please e-mail frontofhouse@belfastboatclub.com to cancel the court.  In order to be fair to everyone this should only be done if absolutely necessary. Please try to make sure courts are cancelled with as much notice as possible.  If courts are being regularly cancelled at short notice this could mean that others who want to play aren't able to and may result in booking rights being suspended.

General Club Access

All members are reminded that during this phase of re-opening there are only 2 conditions on which entry to the club will be permitted:
  1. A current membership card is swiped at reception which belongs to the member using it or
  2. A replacement membership card has been ordered in advance via the Smart Club Cloud
We would ask that if you have forgotten your card please don't ask those manning reception to make an exception as they aren't able to and you will have to return with your card.  Again many thanks to everyone for their co-operation with this so far.

Membership

As you might expect we have had a significant interest in new memberships over the past week which is great to see.  In order to give existing members who have continued to pay membership fees during the closure period priority during this initial re-opening phase, we will not be accepting any new or returning memberships until 1st June.

Membership applications will be open online through the website by Tuesday or Wednesday this week but in the current circumstances it will take around a week for new applications to be approved and processed with the earliest start date being 1st June.

If you know someone who might be interested in joining please direct them to our website over the coming days or e-mail membership@belfastboatclub.com.  It will not be possible to complete membership applications at the club during this stage of re-opening so please do not encourage non-members to come down to the club to join.

If you have any queries with regards your own membership please don't hesitate to get in touch with us at membership@belfastboatclub.com.  Finally can we say once again a huge thanks to everyone for their continued support over the last two months!
