Welcome to the Boat Club Bulletin, a new weekly email during this period of lockdown while the club remains closed.

Last week we organised a variety of different exercises, challenges and videos to allow members to still feel connected to, and activated by, the Belfast Boat Club.  With lockdown to continue in its present form for at least a further three weeks, we are working on a regular online timetable of activities for everyone.

Some of the highlights from last week were the video organised by Carlos Miranda which offered messages of support from Albert Costa and Alex Corretja, two former top professional players, Stuart’s QUIZ that saw 100 people watching live while many others played along at home, and our first BIG Interview with Cian McDonnell, who is the club’s best tennis player, on the announcement of his USA tennis scholarship signing from September.

All of these videos and lots more information are posted in our members’ Facebook group.

If you don't have Facebook we will be keeping members' up to date on what is happening via these weekly newsletters, however you might want to consider signing up to Facebook to get access to all of the content and classes.  It's very simple to sign up - you don't need to upload any photos or personal information and you can set your account to be fully private so that nobody else can see it.  If you are concerned about that the first thing you will see when you register is an option to "Take a privacy Tour" which will show you how to make your account private and unlisted.

Coming Up This Week...

This week we are offering plenty of ways to keep fit, active and entertained:

Fitness Classes

A second free hatha yoga class with Shakti’s Paddy who has been taking regular classes at the club will take place at 7pm on Wednesday evening via Zoom - Paddy recorded a short video for us to explain what you need to do before signing in. Go to the Facebook members’ page to view.

Meanwhile the amazing Liv who operates her reformer Pilates business from the club is running some classes through the Zoom platform, and she has offered these FREE for members. This is a fantastic opportunity to try out Pilates and enjoy a workout with Liv on Tuesday at 5:30 or 6:30pm and Wednesday at 8am. To book into a class go to the website  Then choose “online Pilates” power or flow and when booking enter the coupon ‘BOATCLUB’ in the redeem coupon section to get the class for free.

Baby Sensory

For any new Mums out there, Sharon from Baby Sensory is offering three weeks FREE to members in her very popular online classes, and you can find out more by going to or checking out our Facebook members’ page.

Home Workouts

At home bodyweight workouts are very popular right now and are appearing all over the Internet, especially on Instagram, with hundreds of free ones from the likes of Joe Wicks, Tyson Fury or Davina McCall to choose from. However, if you want to try a short but quite intense workout, one of our tennis coaches will be posting something suitable on Wednesday in the Facebook members group.

Stuart's Weekly Quiz

If exercising the brain is more your thing then Stuart’s QUIZ is on every Tuesday at 8pm for just over one hour. Connect to this via Stuart’s Facebook page (click here for last week’s quiz) and have some fun with friends. Even non-quizzers have reportedly been enjoying these so why not give it a go?

The BIG Interview

Our second BIG Interview is with rower Philip Doyle, and this will be released at the end of the week where Philip talks about the Olympics, his role as a doctor and what his training sessions are like.  This will be posted in our Facebook members’ page.

Play Readers Group

If you just want to try something completely different, Louise Bell is running her Play Readers group online, and as she puts it “The show must go on!”  They held a very enjoyable Skype play reading last month, so if you are interested in taking part in future readings please contact Louise on 07756148384 or click here to e-mail her directly.

Boat Club Video - Get Involved

Finally, we are looking to make a “Sunny Days” video and would like members to show us how they are keeping their sporting activity going at home in whatever format they can - if you have a fun video you’d like to share please send in landscape format by WhatsApp to Stuart - 07788 972577.

If you have any further ideas for content you’d like to see from the Boat Club Bulletin or on our social media pages, just get in touch with Stuart to make your suggestion. In the meantime many thanks to all our members for your continued support.  If you have any queries relating to your membership or the club in general please e-mail

We are in this together.

Also don't forget that Delizia are still running a takeaway service with their delicious Italian menu of fresh produce. The full menus are below.

They are also selling vouchers too which are worth £30, but only cost you £25.

These can be used when they open again at the restaurant or for take-away or a cooking class.
