Krupnik

European Monasteries have been providing for the well-being of travelers since the 6th century. Water was typically unsanitary, so beer was a necessity, and a good beer was a godsend to the weary pilgrim. Early histories indicate distillation was practiced in Poland by 1405. Then sometime in the 1500's, a Lithuanian order of Benedictine monks first produced a mixture of high proof spirits, honey, and local spices. This rich, warming drink spread throughout Poland where each family developed their own secret recipe.
Krupnik became a symbol of family and a way to cheer the coldest of travelers.

On Saturday, Nov 1, 2014, Djinn Spirits will release our version of Krupnik. We source local honey to steep with cinnamon and other spices. We add our own high-proof spirit to make a 40% liqueur, then barrel age it on our small whiskey barrels. The result is a beautifully intense blend of flavors.

Luxardo Manhattan

1 1/2 oz Beat 3 Reserve Whiskey
1/4 oz Luxardo Cherry Liqueur
dash bitters (optional)
lemon garnish (optional)

Shake Whiskey, Luxardo, and bitters over ice. Garnish with lemon, if you will. Relish the sheer simplicity...and goodness, of this drink.
