Our Summer Birding Program is back by popular demand in 2021! This exciting and unique program encourages kids to spend time outdoors this summer observing and learning about Iowa's birds. We need your help in spreading the word about this program to kids across Iowa!
Similar to a summer reading program, kids (18 years old and younger) can log the number of hours spent observing birds and participating in specific bird-related activities from June 1 to August 31. No birding experience is required to participate - my hope is that this program will encourage kids and their families to observe birds in their yard, at their favorite park, or while participating in other outdoor recreation activities. And best of all - the first 50 kids to sign up will receive a free copy of the "Kaufman Field Guide to Birds of North America" thanks to a grant from The Wilson B. Reynolds and Jaunita E. Reynolds Fund, and Iowa Audubon!Additionally, those who log 25 hours observing birds and complete 5 bird-related activities or log 15 hours observing birds and complete 10 bird-related activities will receive a prize at summer's end and be entered into a drawing for a brand new pair of binoculars!
