This winter has given us some serious sleeping weather! But what if you can't find a good position? Some people's hips hurt when they sleep on their side. I've just found a way to make that position more comfortable and better for your alignment.
Fold a small towel lengthwise and lay it across your bed at waist height--between your ribs and the top of your hips. Experiment with thickness: it probably takes much less than you expect, maybe only a double or triple fold. This takes the pressure off the hip bone you're lying on and corrects the spinal side-bend caused by side-sleeping position. If your towel is long enough, it will be right where you need it when you switch sides!
If the towel feels good on one side only, use it on that side only. Supporting your top leg and arm with pillows improves alignment even more. If you're still sore, come see me!
Note: my yoga class is in transition, since the Lotus Studio had to close. I'll hold a small class in my office Fri Mar 1, 15, and 29 at 1:30. If you plan to come, please let me know ahead of time. I'm looking into alternative locations nearby. Stay tuned!
