If flowers wanted to walk around, they'd need muscles in their stems. The muscles would also have to hold them upright. Muscles on all sides of the stem would have to balance each other out to prevent the flower from tipping over.
Picture the muscles as animals. Here, the flower stalk is bending toward the stronger giraffe. The flower's "head" is bending the other way to compensate. Does this look like anyone you know? Meanwhile, the effort of keeping the flower from falling all the way over is exhausting the dog.
Massage can relieve the dog's aches and stretch out the short side of the flower stalk. But if the animals remain unevenly matched, the problem will come back.
That's where targeted exercise, such as yoga, comes in. If we train and strengthen the dog to become a match for the giraffe, the flower can stand up straight with minimal strain to either animal.
Yoga is distinctive in building self-awareness as well as muscles, so you begin to detect and heal your own imbalances. It also calms the nervous system and promotes inner well-being.
I enjoy tackling muscle imbalances from both angles--massage and yoga. Come see me for either one!
