This is kind of a big deal.  Here's why, in no particular order:
1. Local setting -  Boulley is from the Soo, and the book takes place there, on the reservation. (Marquette gets a cameo.)
2. Relevance - this tackles a lot of huge issues with real grace and style. It's both timely and timeless, and addresses issues both specific to Native Americans and universally to teens everywhere.
3. It was optioned by the Obamas' production company for a Netflix series.
4. It's our bestselling young adult novel of all time here at SB - beating out even Hunger Games, the Lunar Chronicles, and Twilight
5. Transcends its YA category, and is "another YA novel that’s absolutely page-turning required reading for adults." (Glamour)

New from a favorite

“Towles’ third novel is even more entertaining than his much-acclaimed A Gentleman in Moscow . . . A remarkable blend of sweetness and doom, [The Lincoln Highway] is packed with revelations about the American myth, the art of storytelling, and the unrelenting pull of history. An exhilarating ride through Americana.” — Kirkus Reviews (starred)

Desert angst

“A wily fusion of autobiography and imagination. . . . [Watkins is] reckless, infuriating, ribald, incisive, and hilarious. Why?  Printing backlogs and staffing problems in warehouses and shipping companies.  Plus, wouldn't it feel good to finish your holiday shopping a little early so you can concentrate on cookies in December?

Mike's new tattoo

The Last Taxi Driver was Mike's first big favorite and handsell when he started here at SB.   When the paperback came out with this amazing cover, it was love at first sight for him.

That's bookseller dedication for ya.
