Bigger and Better ‘Showcase Antigua and Barbuda' date announced for May 2016
Following on from two successful years, ‘Showcase Antigua and Barbuda’ the one day, travel industry business-to-business event, returns for a third time, to the Caribbean island of Antigua in May 2016. 
Organisers, the Antigua Hotels and Tourist Association and the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority have announced May 21 as next year’s date.
Showcase Antigua and Barbuda, which attracts over fifty major tour operators from the United Kingdom, Europe, and North America, provides an amazing opportunity for tour operators worldwide, to converge and discuss business partnerships directly with the hotel owners and tourism industry suppliers from Antigua and Barbuda and the wider Caribbean region.
Tourism Officials in Antigua and Barbuda will use the event to promote new hotel projects for the destination, additional airlift, as well as highlight infrastructural developments to include a modern airport terminal, which opened in August 2015 with increased airport capacity.
For 2016, as well as engaging in meetings with owners and business partners, Showcase Antigua and Barbuda will also feature exclusive networking events attended by the Minister of Tourism and other senior tourism officials, island experiences and site inspections.  
Registration for this event opens in 2016.
Antigua and Barbuda celebrate sucessful  end to intensive three month  North American Trade Road Show

Sales Blitz Targeting Northeast, Southeast, Midwest Territories and Canada Raised Awareness of Twin Island Destination and Will Result in Positive Sales for Upcoming Season
The twin islands of Antigua and Barbuda are celebrating the successful end of an intensive and aggressive, strategic three month North American Road Show with stops across the Northeast, Southeast, Midwest and Canada that included receptions, sales calls, and blitzes in each region to raise awareness of Antigua and Barbuda in the targeted markets that will lead to future sales, particularly in the upcoming peak season.
A resounding success in each destination, the visits featured hosted evenings that included a colorful and insightful presentation from Ms. Marie Walker, Vice President of Sales & Marketing North America for the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority and was supported by industry partners such as tour operators to include Travel Impressions, Vacation Express and Island Destinations and hoteliers such as the Elite Island Resorts, Nonsuch Bay and Sandals. Each event captured the essence of Antigua and Barbuda and included the sounds of local steel pan music, feature trip giveaways and incentives for travel. Each event attracted the targeted cadre of travel advisors, with over 100 elite travel agents and travel trade members in many of the markets.

Last Sunday night marked the debut of Alitalia flights to Antigua and Barbuda. This new service will be a seasonal charter out of Milan Italy, serving the destination once per week (Sundays Only) until late April.
Alitalia now brings the number of inaugurals to our destination to five (5) for 2015, and will be the last new service for the year.
The Caribbean Hotel Association Education Foundation would like to express its sincere thanks to all the properties that have donated a hotel stay for the silent auction at the New York Times Travel Show next month. The funds generated by this auction are destined to providing scholarships to young Caribbean professionals.

Young trainees secure employment at leading resorts
Fifty percent of the 28 young people who graduated from the Sandals Grande Antigua Hospitality Training Programme (HTP) on Monday December 14, have secured full-time employment at the couples-only resort, with more placements expected.

In September, over 100 people applied, of which 75 were interviewed, for the training programme. That number was further whittled-down to 28 young people who were offered placement in the 10-week programme.
Grand Pineapple Beach Resort, which is owned by the Sandals brand, ran a simultaneous programme and has also offered employment to some of its successful trainees. More here
