It’s our thirteenth session of our successful Supervisory Management Training courses starting on October 3rd h in partnership with the University of the West Indies Open Campus!

The course will run for a period of ten weeks. As previously, the course will be facilitated by Ms. Shirlene Nibbs.

Our numbers are growing in leaps and bounds for our industry employees who have completed this course, we still recognize that there are many more candidates who would benefit from this training so we encourage you to register your employees for this next session. It is open to middle management, supervisors and employees aspiring to be supervisors. It is not reserved for hotels but open to all AHTA members.

There will be two sessions per week on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5.15pm to 7.00pm. The course outline can be found here. The cost of the course is EC$700.00 per student.

The class is limited to 25 participants so we would ask that if you are interested that you complete the  registration form and return it to Anthea as quickly as possible as space will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. Full payment will be required before the start of classes and should be made out to the AHTA.

Sandals Foundation shares donated school supplies with students

As the youth of Antigua prepare for the opening of another school year, the Sandals Foundation in Antigua and Sandals Grande Antigua Resort & Spa have shared thousands of dollars-worth of school supplies with students from various communities around the island.
The resort, through the Sandals Foundation and its on-going partnership with the Pack for a Purpose organisation, receives hundreds of pounds of school supplies from visiting guests annually. While the Sandals Foundation distributes these donations throughout the year, a concerted effort is made during this time to ensure that those most in need are amply equipped with the necessary tools to begin the new academic year. Zika Brief for Caribbean Travel Partners

The spread of Zika virus in the Americas, other tropical regions and most recently in Florida has understandably caused concern to both residents of and travelers to those areas. While ZIKA virus itself is described as a mild virus with only one in 5 persons showing any symptoms, a link of the virus to microcephaly in babies has been confirmed even though the precise nature of this link is yet to be determined.

The Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA) and the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) are aware that our travel partners and consumers may have questions about travel to the region. We have compiled the brief that you can download below and links to related resources you can find in our Zika Resource Center to provide pertinent information about Zika and travel to the Caribbean.
