Pineapple Beach Club Antigua Announces Grand Opening

The resort will close from August 25 to September 30 for renovations, and reopen on October 1 as an Adults-Only resort
Pineapple Beach Club Antigua, the laidback tropical hideaway represented by Elite Island Resorts, is planning a grand reopening on October 1, 2016, following a closure for renovations that will take place from August 25 to September 30. The refurbishment project will include a variety of upgrades to the resort’s guest rooms, ground, facilities, equipment and overall operations.
The grand reopening will be a celebration of the hotel's enhancements and its return to the Elite Island Resorts group, whose chairman, Rob Barrett, originally owned and operated the resort from 1986 to 1998. "This resort and I share a history together that makes its reopening all the more significant for me," said Barrett. "I'm very excited to have Pineapple Beach Club Antigua back under our care. We've got some great plans to gently steer the property in a new direction. Starting with the transition to a more laid back, Adults-Only environment, and continuing with the renovation project, we're carefully crafting a vacation experience that I know our guests will love." The AHTA relaunches website www.antiguahoteljobs.com
A totally rebuilt version of www.antiguahoteljobs.com was recently relaunched by the AHTA. This platform acts as an interface between tourism stakeholders and those seeking a new job in the industry. Tourism related businesses are able to advertise vacant positions whilst job seekers are able to review open positions and apply online through the site and also have the ability to leave their resumes on the site for consultation by registered employers.
We would like to encourage all members to sign up and use the site, to post or supply us with all vacant positions and when necessary review the resume bank when recruiting.
The site is open to all and we hope it will become an important resource within the local and sub regional job market. Current visitation to the website is good and growing monthly and this is supported by a Facebook with already 3,600 fans increasing week by week.

New ABTA Directors of Tourism for North America Introduce Strategic and Robust Marketing Campaigns to Reach Travelers in Key Markets.
The new Directors of Tourism for the USA and Canada, Ms. Kim Jack Riley and Mr. Colin Skerritt respectively, have introduced strategic and dynamic marketing plans with budgets to create the maximum impact in their markets. These plans were outlined in a press conference on Tuesday, held at the headquarters of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority (ABTA), which saw the Directors gathered with the CEO of the ABTA, Mr. Colin C. James and Consultant to the Ministry of Tourism, Ms. Shirlene Nibbs, to formally present these plans to the media and public. More here

British Airways is pleased to announce special travel rates for our Tourism and Travel industry partners in the Caribbean.  These special rates are only valid for Tourism and Travel industry Partners who are registered to participate at the WTM Trade Show in the UK in November 2016. Proof of registration with the Ministry of Tourism/Tourism Authority or Board/Hotel & Tourism Association may be required.
 The fares are valid for travel from all British Airways gateways in the Caribbean to London Gatwick and London Heathrow. The special fares are available in the following cabins and at the amounts shown.  Please note that taxes, fees and surcharges are additional.

CHTA Officials Address Caribbean Tourism Industry Challenges
 On August 4th, CHTA officials addressed the theme of Creating Success Amid Constant Change: The Caribbean Tourism Industry’s Challenge. The event was attended by Caribbean and diaspora press that  gathered at the Hyatt Regency Miami. Among the many issues addressed during the press conference, President Karolin Troubetzkoy, COO Vanessa Ledesma-Berrios and CMO Matt Cooper agreed that the best way in which the Caribbean can face current and upcoming challenges is through education and strategic investment in the development of our most valuable resource, our people. Follow Pokémon Go to More Sales for your Hotel
Not Just A Game
Within 5 days of its launch Pokémon Go was downloaded more than 7.5 million times, making it more popular than the dating app Tinder and nearly more popular than Twitter. More average time is spent on Pokémon Go than is spent on several other leading mobile apps, including WhatsApp, Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook, according to USA Today. It also shows unusually strong user retention with more than 60 percent of people who have downloaded it using it daily. Meta-what?
You must have heard the term Hotel Metasearch Engine used several times by now, as you navigate the vast hotel e-distribution arena.  This term often raises many questions, fear even, with independent hoteliers that we speak to.   Are these metasearch engines good for business?  Are they going to take away from my direct bookings?  Should I ask to be transferred to the vacant Head of Housekeeping position and just avoid it all together?
There’s nothing to be afraid of…it is easier to navigate than you think, and if used correctly, it can be a tool that is vital to driving direct bookings to your website.
