Social media relations expert advises on effective marketing techniques
Fresh off the heels of a successful training of social media, held at the Antigua and Barbuda Hospitality Institute (ABHTI) earlier last week, Director of Communications at the Caribbean Hotels and Tourism Association (CHTA), Adriana Serna encouraged persons in the hospitality sector to become “more engaging with their clients on social media”.
Serna suggested that what a customer sees on social media can impact their desire to visit the destination and further stay at a resort, hotel or guest house.
“There should really be a two way conversation with their customers, because the more you know your customers, the easier it is to sell to them”, she rationalized.
She added that the overall aim is to “give them the content that they want”.
The social media specialist also urged key executives to listen to the needs of their clients so that they can know what and when to post on social media to ignite their interests.
“Make sure that the posts are entertaining and educating, the posts should speak to your customers”, she said.
Serna also highlighted the need for management to empower their team members, since they will play a critical role in keeping the social media sites updated.
“Empower your team to interact with your guests and capture these moments, which will make a difference on social media. Encourage the guests to take pictures and posts on their pages, detailing their experiences”.
She also called for key partners to develop a cadre of trained social media ambassadors.
