The first account has been written by a dancer of a remarkable period in the history of ballet in America, that of Mikhail Baryshnikov’s directorship of American Ballet Theatre in the 1980s.
"The Equity Project: Increasing the Presence of Blacks in Ballet," an initiative funded by the Mellon Foundation, is a partnership between Dance Theatre of Harlem, the International Association of Blacks in Dance and Dance/USA.
Dutch National Ballet is organizing its second international ballet conference, where international leaders of the ballet world will come together to debate and reflect on topical themes.
Bauer ponders how the dance world can be more deliberate about shaping future leaders and how aspiring directors can prepare themselves to succeed.
A description of the recent panel at The Association of Performing Arts Professionals conference: "Joining Forces: A National Conversation about Race, Disability, and Trans Equity in Dance Presenting."
