Newsletter May 2015
So what do we have this month? Lets see...Kentucky Derby, 'no socks day!', 'dance like a chicken day!' Where do these come from??? I couldn't resist looking into the dance like a chicken day - but didn't manage to find the origin or much history - who wouldn't want to be known for the creation of this day eh? The music was created in late 1950 by an accordion player Werner Thomas. Thomas performed regularly in a restaurant called Davos in Switzerland and he first introduced his composition in 1963....and apparently everyone moved in a way similar to chickens! (Ref - http://www.dates.abouttravelingtheworld.com/special-holidays/national-dance-like-a-chicken-day/). So there you go.
Probably a more well known celebration in May is Mothers day and this year is celebrated on the 10th (although in some countries it isn't even in May). This month's newsletter brings some great offers for Mom's and Dad's looking for alternative Mothers and Fathers day gifts.
The shot above is from the California Academy of Sciences (www.calacademy.org) - a great place to spend a day with the family. Check out the shots from my fun cycling across the Bay Bridge and my thought as to what fun we could have with the old one! Also, we embark on a new month 'For The Photographer in You' - onto more great stuff, read all about the forthcoming month below!
Don't forget my quote of the month at the end of the newsletter....I love this one!
Have a great May and as always, do get in touch if you have any comments or would like to find out a little more about anything in the newsletter.
