What's in a name?  The Middlesex Genealogical Society (MGS) name was created years ago by a small group of family history enthusiasts who lived in the Darien CT area.  They adopted the word Middlesex because Darien was part of Middlesex Parish in colonial days. Today, most members and friends of MGS live throughout Fairfield County.  Our family history interests lead to villages, towns and cities all over the world.

We Need New Volunteers.  Why Not You?

Family history research is an enormously popular interest area today.  At the same time, many long-standing genealogical societies are discontinuing operations, not because of lack of public interest but because volunteers don't step up to help at the organizational and planning (board) level.

Fairfield County CT is home to many skilled family researchers as well as business, legal, historical/cultural, technology and administrative professionals. You may be one!  If so, we need you.  Please come to any monthly board meeting to hear what we talk about, or contact any board member for more information.  Our next board meeting will be Monday September 16 at 7pm.  Come and sit in.

Past Speaker Presentations

MGS has sponsored many excellent genealogical speakers over the years. Click here to see a summary of our speaker presentations since 2009, made possible by annual financial support of members.

  • You're an existing, or former, paying member.
  • You presented at one of our meetings in the past.
  • You signed the sign-in sheet at one of our presentations.
  • You may have met with one of our volunteers at an outreach event.

Either way, we're happy to keep you in the loop about new speakers and events.  If you aren't interested, simply "unsubscribe" at the bottom of this page and we won't email you again.

If you're a guest, feel free to come again for free to any of our speaker events. We hope you'll find our programs so interesting, and helpful, that you'll become a member someday soon.  A $25 contribution spread over 5 speaker meetings is less than half the price of a movie ticket per speaker.
