Happy Landcare Week
01 - 07 September, 2014

Happy Landcare Week! This week marks Landcare Week to encourage everyone, wherever they live and what they do to get involved in the Landcare community. Why? To help restore and protect our land and waterways, Australia's natural assets.

On the Gold Coast, we are proud of the Landcare moment with many active bushcare, creekcare, beachcare and oceancare initiatives. Plus the array of citizen science organisations helping collect valuable information about the environment and its biodiversity.

Make sure your Landcare Week is a week to remember. Get involved and help celebrate what we do best - care for Gold Coast's catchments.

Happy Landcare Week and welcome Spring!

Special notice for PlatypusWatch:

Due to the wet weather over the before last weekend the surveys for Currumbin Creek and the Coomera River had to be canceled. The next available weekend to survey these sites will be:

Currumbin: Saturday 11th October
Coomera: Sunday 12th October

The good news about the reschedule is that it will be warmer....the not so good news if we have to get out of bed a little bit earlier.

For Mudgeeraba and Tallebudgera this will occur next weekend, and for those wanting to do an induction, Natalie Hoskins will be holding these on Saturday 6th September after the Mudgeeraba surveys.

For more information please email Natalie: platypuswatch@goldcoastcatchments.org

It's time to party: BeachCare style.

BeachCare is hosting a party to celebrate 25 years of Landcare at Rainbow Bay on Saturday 27th September. Proudly supported by Landcare Australia's Grow Grants, the party will also celebrate Friends of Rainbow Bay Society's amazing efforts for Rainbow Bay to be awarded Queensland's Cleanest Beach for 2014.

There will be plenty of time to surf, help plant a native dune plant at Greenmount Beach, enjoy a beach brunch, beach cricket and tour of the beach! There will be tunes by Leopold's Treat and of course a chance to say good luck to Joel Hayes and Naomi Edwards who will be leaving BeachCare & CoastEd - Centre for Coastal Management. But most of all, welcome the new team - yet to be confirmed!

Feel free to come for the whole day or just part of the party. Invite your friends and family! It's time to party! For any questions please email beachcare@griffith.edu.au.

Ever wondered what was in your waterway? Make sure you attend the What's in your waterway workshop on Saturday 27th September, 8am - 10:30am.
