Welcome back to the Richmond Parks & Recreation weekly newsletter! 

Classrooms are filling up with enthusiastic learners of all ages and the nights are cooling off thanks to Autumn's refreshing breeze.

With the changing of seasons comes several opportunities to reconnect with nature, move with friends and family, and lend a helping hand to make our community even more vibrant!

This week's activities include DNR Free Fishing, RSF Presents the Sonnett Man, Tuesday Twilight Markets, Food Truck Wednesday,  Gentle Yoga,  and the Richmond Famers Market !

RSF Presents The Sonnet Man!


Join Richmond Shakespeare Festival as we welcome Devon Glover, AKA The Sonnet Man to Richmond, Indiana!

The Sonnet Man sets Shakespeare’s love sonnets to Hip Hop and features brilliant rap artist Devon Glover. Conceived and produced by Broadway Playwright Arje Shaw, The Sonnet Man brings Shakespeare to audiences through Hip Hop!

Devon Glover was featured on The Today Show with a tremendous national response. The producer said, “I’ve never had so many emails from people saying how much they enjoyed the story and especially the song!”

Come get your local food fix down at Jack Elstro Plaza every Wednesday between 11AM-2PM!

 
A variety of food trucks and local restaurants from the Richmond/Wayne County area will set up on Wednesdays this summer, so come on down to grab your lunch, get outside, and support local! We'll play background music all summer, but in June & July we will also have live music to enjoy.

Give Your Body Some Love At Gentle Yoga!

 
Join the Richmond Senior Community Center every Friday at 9am for Gentle Yoga led by Shari Veach. There is plenty of room for social distancing as the class is held in the gymnasium. Gentle Yoga is free to members, and $5 to the public 18 and up.

Sneak Peak at October...

10th Annual Wayne County Bike Tour!


Also acting as the main fundraiser for the Wayne County Cardinal Greenway this event taking place on October 1st. This will be our first in person ride in three years, and we are excited to see you! BikeTOURberfest features multiple routes from a family friendly 5-mile ride to an experienced 56-mile tour. All routes begin and end featuring the scenic fall colors of Wayne County and the Cardinal Greenway. The ride will begin at 9:00 a.m. with a staggered start. The longer rides will be released first.

The ride starts at 201 East Main Street (Well Care Community Health), heading down into the Gorge on S 1st Street following the upper portion of the Starr Gennett parking lot. The ride will continue on the Gorge Trail to the new Connector Trail above the Veteran’s Memorial. Keep on the trail at the D Street Trailhead and head North. Route distances of 5, 31, and 56 miles.

Registration Fees are $30 until 9/30, $35 for the day of the event, and $15 for students! (You can also register Sept. 30th from 12-5:30 PM at Richmond Furniture Gallery, 180 Ft. Wayne Ave on the day of event starting at 8 AM)
