Hi, <<First Name>>!

Welcome back to the Richmond Parks & Recreation weekly newsletter!

Classrooms are filling up with enthusiastic learners of all ages and the nights are cooling off thanks to Autumn's refreshing breeze.

With the changing of seasons comes several opportunities to reconnect with nature, move with friends and family, and lend a helping hand to make our community even more vibrant!

We hope you enjoy these brief glimpses into our Fall programming.

New Life to Bloom and Grow in Our Parks!

We are happy to make TWO announcements of ways we are making our parks flourish with new life with the installation of 60 Bluebird boxes and with our acceptance into the "Seed A Legacy Program" through the Bee and Butterfly Fund.
Some things to note regarding the project is the preparation that will be required and the progress that will take time to see significant results. The preparation process is primarily the elimination of any grass and understory vegetation in the exact spots where the seeds will be spread. Then the first round of bee-promoting clovers are laid down in the Spring. The second round of pollinator flowers and grasses is laid down in the Fall in order to settle into the ground during the winter. The flowers will need to be trimmed regularly during the first year. By the second year, we will have several beautiful wildflower pollinator corridors. The process comes with some growing pain, but we know it will be worth it when we can talk about how beautiful our pollinator friendly parks are!
