MANA unveils new revised Core Competencies

The Midwives Alliance Revised Core Competencies incorporate the International Confederation of Midwives core competencies as well as our commitment to cultural and gender inclusivity. Members of the MANA Document Committee, chaired by Justine Clegg, and the MANA Board took a side-by-side comparison of ICM and MANA core competencies, and added those from ICM that apply to midwifery in the United States to our existing competencies. With input from stakeholder experts including ICTC, we revised our language to reflect our commitment to serving all communities seeking midwifery services. Find the revised Core Competencies here.

Update from the States:

Congrats Maryland!

As Midwives Alliance prepares for the US MERA meeting in Maryland, we celebrate with midwives and families there that House Bill HB9 and Senate Bill SB103 have passed both houses unanimously! These bills will establish a licensure process, regulatory language and an advisory committee for direct entry midwifery practice. While the governor has not yet signed the bill, no problems are expected. Congratulations Maryland!
