MANA Division of Research:

VBAC, ICM Standards Papers To Watch For

Your MANA Stats in action! Watch for an upcoming paper that reports outcomes from the data you submit to MANA Stats, one of the largest data sets on physiologic birth in the United States.

A paper on outcomes of home and birth center VBACs has been accepted for publication in the peer-reviewed journal Birth: Issues in Perinatal Care. In the largest ever look at out-of-hospital VBACs, authors Kim Cox, PhD, Marit Bovbjerg, PhD, Melissa Cheyney, PhD, CPM, and Lawrence Leeman, MD ask key questions about success, repeat section, and transfer rates.

In addition, get answers to key questions about how training of certified professional midwives match ICM guidelines in an upcoming paper in the Journal of Midwifery and Women's Health. This paper, authored by Melissa Cheyney, PhD, CPM, Christine Olsen, PhD, Marit Bovbjerg, PhD, Courtney Everson, PhD, Ida Darragh, CPM and Brynne Potter is expected to run in the fall.

Watch here for publication dates of both articles.

US MERA Signing 2015US MERA Releases the 2015 Annual Meeting Report

US MERA was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario, at the memorable joint meeting of the Midwives Alliance of North America and the Canadian Association of Midwives in 2011. As a founding organization, Midwives Alliance is proud to have been part of the committed effort, together with our partner organizations, to work collaboratively, come to agreement, and develop these historic documents. We hope our members will take the time to read both the 2014 and 2015 joint statements, and consider how this work will enhance education for midwives, improve access within the healthcare system, and increase safety for families. We welcome your comments!
