Cathie Gosnell, RN, MS, MBA
Clinical Consultant
Premier Safety Institute
In both her current role as a consultant and previous role in Premier’s group purchasing division, Cathie has been actively involved in efforts to reduce the risk of tubing misconnections and improve patient safety for more than 10 years. She currently serves on the U.S. Technical Advisory Group that is developing small bore connector standards.
“The change from a universal small bore connector to unique connectors for each clinical delivery system will be challenging; however, it will reduce the risk of tubing misconnections that result in patient injury or death. We must work together to make the implementation as smooth as possible and reduce the risk of unintended consequences that could occur during the transition phase.”
