Regatta 2021

Statement from the Regatta Committee

"The Scout Guide Regatta Committee reluctantly announces that we are canceling the 2021 Scout Guide Regatta. After consultation with Scouts Tasmania, Girl Guides Tasmania, and Covid-19 Hotline consultants it is clear, that based on current requirements, we cannot hold a viable event that meets these requirements. While we could continue plan in the hope that these are eased next year, having to cancel at a later date would incur a huge financial cost as well as add to the emotional roller coaster that a lot of people are going through. A clear decision now gives certainty to youth members, leaders, parents, and committee members and enables them to plan other activities for that weekend.

Our Regatta Committee will be strongly committed to ensuring that the 2022 Scout Guide Regatta is one of our best and we would welcome suggestions for additions, changes, treats, and surprises."

Kathy Cane, Chairperson, on behalf of the Committee

Storytime with Huonville Girl Guides

During lockdown, Huonville Girl Guides were all asked to create a story, one paragraph at a time. Leaders Eagle and Adori started it and helped to finish it, then the story was virtually passed from one girl to the next, with each person adding their bit.

The 21 girls wrote about going on a Winter Wonder camp at Cockle Creek, exploring the Tassie wilderness, and finding lots of animals along the way.
