Celebrating Guiding nationally and globally!

News from the Chief Commissioner

There is always so much to celebrate in Girl Guiding and this month is no different. My social media feed this week is filled with Guiding friends from around the world taking part in the GROW GUIDING CHALLENGE. This challenge requires you to select and share an image from Guiding that shows what Guiding has meant to you, one of your most memorable Guiding moments, or simply you in your uniform (past or present)...

National Science Week

Get involved in this year's National Science Week. With plenty of activities and resources, there are so many ways to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing.
National Tree Day was celebrated around the state last weekend. Orana, the Guide camp in the south of the state, celebrated by replanting 90 native trees to regreen the property after recent maintenance. It was an amazing day out with over 30 people showing up to help out. Thank you to everyone that attended; many hands made it light work!
During June, 24 girls had the opportunity to further their leadership skills at the 14-17 Leadership Camp, held at Paton Park near Ulverstone.
At this camp, girls participated in a number of team building activities, public speaking workshops and reflection time by the Leven River as well as having plenty of fun in the form of Murder Mystery games and mock fancy dinners.
If you know someone interested in Community and Leadership, why not tell them about Girl Guides?
This May, we had five amazing young women presented with the peak awards for their sections at Government House. (From left) Shinae Aurik, Holly Stephens, Mieke Richards, Rebecca Laing, and Brooke Dobson all showed a great commitment to their development as members of Guiding by completing their Queens Guides and Olave Baden Powell Awards.
We wish the award recipients all the best on their future endeavors and we hope that these awards have made that journey a little more adventurous.
How could we not celebrate Bring Your Dog to Work Day!
Holly loves hanging out at Guide House. If you're lucky, you might even see her on your next visit!
Whether you need to sort out a membership or buy a uniform, we can help. Guide House is at 17 Clarence Street, Bellerive. We're open from 8-5pm every Tuesday to Thursday.
