Spring 2017

Young Conservatives for Energy Reform Newsletter

2017 has started off very exciting for the Young Conservatives for Energy Reform.  We have had some great meetings all over the country in the last few months. With Chairmen already in place in over half the country, we are working on our goal of having a state chairman in every state by the end of the year.

We have attended some great events the last few months which included the Republican Jewish Coalition annual meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada.  We heard about how the Israel is one of the leading countries on clean energy.  Several of our YC4ER leaders attended the conference and we were honored to hear from many wonderful speakers which included Vice-President Pence, former Vice-President Dick Cheney, U.S. Senator Cory Gardener (CO), and my U.S. Senator, Lindsey Graham (SC).

In March, we visited Denver. Colorado and met with several key leaders of the Colorado state senate and state house members.  Colorado is leading the way on clean energy and renewables in the country.   I was very pleased the state legislature wants to continue to promote clean energy legislation.  We also had a great event with the Colorado Young Conservatives for Energy Reform with special guest speaker, General Richard Zilmer and U.S. Senator Cory Gardner (CO).  We look forward to working with the great supporters in Denver and throughout the state.

We are planning many events around the country in the next couple of months which will include Arizona, North Carolina, Ohio and Texas.  Please set your calendars for our upcoming 2017 Clean Energy Summit which will be held on October 4 – 6, 2017 in Washington, DC at the Hyatt Regency.  We are expecting hundreds of young leaders from around the country to attend.  The agenda this year is going to very exciting will include members of Congress, clean industry leaders and YC4ER leaders from around the country.

We look forward to seeing everyone soon. Thank you for all you do as we make America great by promoting clean energy to our fellow conservatives.

YC4ER in the News - YC4ER opposes repeal of Methane Waste Rule

Excerpt from an op-ed written by YC4ER President Michele Combs: “Each year, more than $330 million worth of natural gas is lost due to venting on federal and tribal lands. That much gas could supply 1.5 million American homes with heating and cooking gas – that’s over half the housing units in our entire state.

In response to this waste of our natural resources, the Bureau of Land Management required oil and gas operations on federal lands to tighten up ship. Cutting down on waste to provide even more natural resources to the American people is something every conservative can get behind. But, the Senate is now considering axing that rule. It would be a huge and unnecessary giveaway to gas companies at the expense of the taxpayer.”
