GUAC’s webinar series

Give us a Chance is launching a new series of webinars, aimed exclusively at our members in partnership with Global Net 21.

The webinars, which will be free for all members, will cover a range of topics that seek to support the aims of GUAC and provide information, expertise and experience shared across the membership base.

The first webinar will take place on 31st August at 11am, and will be an introduction to GUAC and our aims - it's also a test run for the series where we hope to engage members, ensure the functionality of the webinar technology and pick up ideas and suggestions for future topics from attendees.

If you are interested in taking part in the webinar, please sign up here: http://www.meetup.com/GlobalNet21/events/233094006/

AELP special offer for GUAC members

The Association of Employment and Learning Providers (AELP) are offering GUAC members 15% discount off the membership fee, and access to AELP benefits and resources.

Earlier this summer, the AELP and GUAC announced a new Memorandum of Understanding between the two organisations, in an effort to provide a more joined up approach to provider support and social housing employment support.

AELP member benefits include: tickets to exclusive member events; access to complimentary CEO webinars; a free place at the AELP 2 day National Conference, and a 10% discount off exhibiting costs at AELP events.

For more information about the membership costs and to receive details on the full range of benefits, please contact Debbie Hughes, Marketing & Membership Co-ordinator at the AELP on DHughes@aelp.org.uk

In the spotlight – Penny Mordaunt

Penny Mordaunt was appointed Minister of State for Department for Work and Pensions on 15 July 2016. She was elected Conservative MP for Portsmouth North in 2010. Her role includes responsibility for disability employment, including Disability Confident, Work Choice, and Access to Work, the Work and Health Programme and mental health in the workplace.

Mordaunt’s pre-political career was focused in the public and third sectors: she was previously communications director for Kensington and Chelsea Council, and was formerly a director at the Community Fund, which later merged administratively with the New Opportunities Fund to create the Big Lottery Fund.

In 2006 she became Director of Diabetes UK – the largest patient organisation in Europe.

GUAC looks forward to working with Mordaunt in her brief as DWP Minister, and we look forward to engaging with her over the coming weeks.
