Work and Health Webinar – an offer to GUAC members, from PublicCo.

Webinar: 11.30 am, Wednesday 30 November

GUAC have been working in partnership with welfare to work and skills specialists PublicCo, to help Housing Associations get involved in the delivery of the DWP Work and Health Programme.

With a major ‘mini competition’ round due to commence in January 2017, and with an expected spend of £559m, there is opportunity for housing organisations to get involved and lead on the delivery of key Welfare to Work programmes.

To date, PublicCo have been working with a group of 10 Housing Associations in London. They now wish to extend the reach of this project to other regions and are looking for any housing organisations that wish to participate.

To hear more about the project and how your housing organisation may benefit, join GUAC and PublicCo as they host a webinar this Wednesday at 11.30am, where you can also hear from other London members about the benefit of participating.

ERSA Conference 2016:
Thursday 8 December

GUAC members, One Housing and Thames Valley Housing are joining Lynsey from GUAC to present a joint session on Jobs Plus with the Learning and Work Institute, at the annual ERSA conference taking place on 8th December in London.

With the theme, ‘New horizons: Making a difference in changing times’, the conference provides a great chance to hear the latest thinking and updates from government, employment support providers, experts on public policy and economists as well as leading charities and social enterprises. GUAC will feedback to all members after the conference.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Penny Mordaunt MP, Minister of State for Disabled People, Health and Work,
  • Paul Johnson, Director, Institute for Fiscal Studies and – Providing forward thinking on ‘Brexit’ and what this means for the UK economy
  • Torsten Bell, Director, Resolution Foundation – Insights on social justice and current political and policy trends

Webinar – Resident enterprise, business start-ups and in-business support

Webinar: 11am, Friday 9 December

Join us on 9 December for a webinar focusing on resident enterprise, business start-ups and in-business support, delivered in conjunction with one of the founding Directors of Enterprise Cube, Richard Lanning.

Over the past five years the ‘CUBE’ team have been finding ways to break down the process of starting a business, to make it easy to understand and to do.

In the webinar we’ll discuss the impact on residents and communities when they start businesses, and look at what type of support works to help people to do this at the grassroots level.

We’ll discuss what types of support work best and how we can ensure that the benefits of small local businesses are brought into more communities.
